Members of British Parliament are lining up to slam Sean Penn ... and his movies -- trashing him over recent comments he made concerning Britain’s stance over the Falkland Islands.
In case you don't know: Britain and Argentina have both claimed sovereignty over the Falklands since the early 19th-Century ... and went to war with each other over the territory in 1982.
Penn called the Brits' continuing claims over the Falklands "colonialist, ludicrous and archaic" -- and got their dander up even further by criticizing their recent decision to deploy Prince William there.
One member of the British Parliament called Penn’s views "nonsense." Patrick Mercer, a famed British Army veteran, also ripped Penn – calling his views "moronic.”
Mercer added, Penn "seems to know nothing about the situation" -- and "A good number of his movies have been turkeys, so I suppose we shouldn’t expect much better coming out of his mouth."
Sean Penn is figuring out why he sometimes flies into rages ... this according to a sealed letter submitted to the judge in his criminal battery case.
Penn had a progress hearing today in the case -- he pled no contest in 2010 to vandalism after allegedly battering a photographer in L.A. The battery charges were dismissed as part of the plea. In addition to probation, Penn was required to attend 36 hours of anger management classes.
Penn was not there. His lawyer, Richard Hirsch, showed up and told TMZ ... Penn's counselor gave him high marks. Hirsch says Penn has attended 1/3 of the classes, but the counselor says the actor has made great progress.
TMZ shot footage of Sean's violent confrontation with the photog back in 2009 (below) -- check it out.
Sean Penn's busting his ass to help Haiti's earthquake recovery -- but the company hired to fix his website failed to put in the same effort ... according to a new lawsuit filed by Sean's charity.
In the suit ... Penn's group -- J/P Haitian Relief Organization -- claims it hired Vividminds in November, 2010 to redesign its website and agreed to pay the firm a total of $25K to complete the job.
According to the docs, filed today in L.A. Superior Court, Penn's group says Vividminds never built a website that was up to snuff -- and just last week Penn called the company to demand they deliver.
The suit claims Vividminds demanded an additional $10K ... and continues to hold "the website hostage."
J/P Haitian Relief Organization is suing for breach of contract and a full refund of its $25,000.
The paparazzo who was attacked by Sean Penn in 2009 is donating all of the money he won in the court settlement to various charities -- including one cause very dear to Penn's heart ... Haiti.
TMZ has learned the terms of the settlement between Jordan Dawes and Penn reads, "All of the net proceeds of the settlement will be donated to charities that support victims of domestic violence and victims of the earthquake in Haiti."
We're told Dawes' powerhouse attorney, Donald Karpel, is also donating a large chunk of his attorney's fees to the charities as well.
As TMZ first reported, Penn got 36 months probation and was ordered to perform 300 hours of community service stemming from the attack.
