Slade Smiley from "Real Housewives of Orange County" is threatening legal action against his baby mama after he was verbally assaulted on a Hollywood red carpet and accused of being a deadbeat dad.
TMZ posted the video this morning of a man attacking Slade and Gretchen Rossi ... accusing Slade of being $160,000 in arrears on his child support to Michelle Arroyo.
Slade's attorney tells TMZ, “Slade is not a deadbeat dad and is making timely payments. We will be looking into this further and if Miss Arroyo did hire these clowns to harass Slade we will exercise all our rights including a restraining order if necessary."
The attorney also says Arroyo is actually denying Slade time with his son, Grayson ... an 11-year-old diagnosed with cancer. Arroyo says Slade is now paying her $775/month, but claims he's still $95,000 behind.
As for last night's 3 ring circus ... Slade's lawyer says, "It appears this whole thing was staged and created by Miss Arroyo who is obviously looking for attention."

As TMZ reported, Slade owes a major chunk o' cash to his ex-gf Michelle Arroyo. Their son Grayson was diagnosed with brain cancer at age 6 and has had 11 surgeries.
In the video, the collector repeatedly says Slade owes $160,000 in back child support -- but Michelle tells TMZ the total was around $130,000 ... until she agreed to reduce it to $95,000 in a recent court hearing.
She claims Slade is currently paying her $775 per month. We called Slade's rep for comment ... but haven't heard back yet.
The only thing worse than owing nearly $80,000 in child support? When the kid you're allegedly failing to support is fighting an inoperable brain tumor ... but that's just how the Real O.C.'s Slade Smiley happens to roll.
TMZ has obtained a letter sent to Slade's baby mama from the Department of Child Support Services last month, which states Slade owes her $77,356.75 in late child support payments ... plus 10 percent interest whenever he doesn't cut her a check on time.
Slade filed a request in L.A. County Superior Court two weeks after the DCSS sent the letter, asking a judge to lower the enormous child support bill because he says he's unemployed and makes zero dollars. Slade's rep tells us Slade has "jumped through burning hoops to take care of [his child's] well-being and health."
Slade's baby mama begs to differ, telling us Slade has only seen his sick 9-year-old son Grayson twice in the last year and a half -- and hasn't even sent the kid a birthday card.
Slade Smiley must hit like a "Real Housewife of Orange County" -- because it took some guy a whole week to realize Slade even (allegedly) hit him. Or at least that's what we're guessing.
Laguna Beach PD is looking into an altercation Slade allegedly got into at a friend's birthday party back on July 15.
Law enforcement told us that "there was a pushing and shoving match" that led to the other guy leaving the party. The hotel where the party was being held did not call the cops that night and neither did the other guy ... until eight days later.

It's unclear what the warrant is for ... there's a buzz it involves unpaid child support, but so far we haven't confirmed it.
UPDATE -- Slade's people are saying he was "unaware" that the warrant existed until he was arrested. The warrant had to do with money he owed his baby mama for their son who has been suffering from a rare form of brain cancer for several years. He says, "This is an unfortunate situation that has occurred. My son is very ill and we have been working on resolving the issue of support vs. his enormous medical bills with the appropriate agencies for several months now. It is sad that individuals would take advantage of the situation in an attempt to defame and discredit me in such a public manner. For those who know me, there is nothing more important than my children."
