Victoria Principal has settled a lawsuit with her former maid -- a suit alleging V.P. was a gun-wielding boss -- but there's no doubt Victoria came out on top.

The maid,
Maribel Banegas, issued a formal letter of apology to Victoria - in other words, she waived the white flag. The letter is contained in settlement documents obtained by TMZ.
Banegas claimed Victoria flew into a rage at her Malibu home, fired the maid and then pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her.
Victoria countersued, claiming the maid was a lunatic, slamming doors, hurting her dog and demanding money. Victoria says she pulled the gun and cocked it out of fear.
In the letter of apology, attached to the settlement, Banegas says, "I can now understand why you felt that I was threatening to you, which, in turn, led you to defend yourself."
The maid goes on, apologizing for "any unintentional injury to your little dog, Mei-ling."
The terms of the settlement are confidential.

Listen and judge for yourself.
BTW, both are now suing each other.
Victoria Principal has just filed a lawsuit, admitting she did pull a gun on her former maid, but only after the maid threatened her, injured her dog and went on a wild tear.
The maid, Maribel Banegas, sued Principal yesterday, over the whole gun thing. But in Principal's lawsuit, the actress says on December 26, 2008, the maid was told she was fired and flew into a rage and "repeatedly slammed the back door with such force that...the door frame itself was damaged."
The suit claims the maid struck and injured another maid in the house, then grabbed Victoria's small dog and left the house.
An hour later, Victoria called the maid on the cell phone, demanding the return of the dog. A short time later, the large maid (6 feet tall, 160ish) returned "dragging Principal's dog into the kitchen on such a taunt [sic] leash that the dog's front paws were lifted off the ground and so roughly that the dog was coughing and wheezing and its eyes bulging."
The suit claims the maid was screaming, "Give me money."
Victoria Principal apparently has taken her role on "
Dallas" a little too seriously -- she's been sued for allegedly pulling a gun on a maid.
The woman who played
Pamela Ewing is being sued by Maribel Banegas, the former maid at Victoria's Malibu home. Banegas claims she had taken the dog for a walk -- when she returned home to an enraged Victoria who couldn't understand why it took so long.
Banegas explained the dog wouldn't poop, but Victoria wasn't pickin' up what the maid was puttin' down. According to the suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Victoria fired Maribel on the spot. Maribel asked for her final check and Victoria went upstairs, allegedly only to come down with a gun, "which she then pointed and aimed" at the maid.
The suit claims Victoria "verbally threatened to kill plaintiff"... and asked another housekeeper who was present "to stand aside in order that she could kill the plaintiff."
The maid claims assault, false imprisonment and emotional distress. She wants unspecified damages.
Oh, by the way, the dog's name is Mei-Ling, and we're told it looks like a Shih Tzu ... seriously.

Victoria Principal could do no wrong as good girl Pam Ewing on "
Dallas" -- and today she's still all right.
