Willkommen Wolfgang!

Exclusive
0510_party_prep_launch
Wolfgang Puck and his band of merry caterers have ARRIVED at George Clooney's house for the ginormous Obama fundraiser tonight -- and they're already carrying in trays of delicious, fancy-people food.

Among the delectables -- racks of meat, an assortment of sauces, apples, cherries, watermelon, an array of breads, Evian water, and beer. Delicious, delicious beer.

As for what brews -- Sierra Nevada Pale Ale ... and Obama's favorite ... Bud Light.

As we first reported, the Spago impresario was hired to feed the 150 people who are each shelling out $40,000 to rub elbows with Obama at Clooney's pad. We're told the food's expected to be "better than the Oscars."

Wolfgang and Co. are under orders to keep everything top secret.

When you're as famous as George Clooney, throwing a mega-fundraiser for someone as famous as the leader of the free world, you want a caterer as famous as Wolfgang Puck.

TMZ has learned ... the Spago impresario has been hired to feed the 150 people who are each shelling out $40,000 to rub elbows with Obama at George Clooney's house this Thursday.

Our sources say Wolfgang and company have signed a confidentiality agreement and have been told in no uncertain terms to treat the event as top secret.

We're told there will be a special menu -- not the standard Wolfgang catering -- and, as one source put it, "The food is going to be a lot better than the Oscars" -- Wolfgang caters the Governor's Ball that follows the academy awards.

Wolfgang Puck Sued for Firing 'Old Man'

Wolfgang Puck's super-fancy Beverly Hills steakhouse is being sued for sticking the metaphorical fork in a 52-year-old waiter -- who claims he was targeted because of his age.

Wolfgang Puck Sued
According to the lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, the honchos at CUT restaurant (GREAT bone marrow flan BTW) fired David Kallman after the guy was subjected to various negative age-related comments.

Kallman -- who says he was the oldest waiter on staff -- claims his co-workers would often call him names like, "old man" and "pops" ... and make grim jokes implying he would die soon ... saying, "It's not like you'll be around too long."

Kallman is suing Wolfgang Puck Worldwide Inc, among others, for unspecified damages exceeding $25k.

Calls to Puck's camp have not been returned.

Wolfgang Puck -- Tonight's Special ... A Settlement!

A dinner at one of Wolfgang Puck's restaurants might set you back a few hundred bucks -- but one patron actually came out ahead nearly five figures after settling a lawsuit with WP's company.

As we first reported, a woman sued Wolfgang after she claims she slipped and fell at Spago back in 2007 -- blaming it on "an overly slick finish on its wood floor."

Seems the two sides finally came to an understanding -- a settlement was filed in L.A. Superior Court last month, with the woman receiving $9,999.00 for her troubles.

That should buy her a lot of nice dinners at Sizzler.

Wolfgang Puck -- Hey Slick, You're Being Sued

Wolfgang PuckDoes a restaurant need to put up a "Caution: Wet Floor" sign if the floor isn't actually wet?

A woman from Michigan is suing Wolfgang Puck over an incident she claims went down at his Beverly Hills restaurant Spago back in 2007. According to a lawsuit filed last month, the woman claims she slipped and fell on the floor -- not because the floor was wet, per se, but because of "an overly slick finish on its wood floor." This is the same kind of person who sues because the coffee is too hot.

Anyway, the woman claims she fell and suffered "disabling and serious personal injuries" as well as "shock and injuries to her nervous system."

She is seeking unspecified damages.

Wolfgang Puck Sued for Crappy Dining Experience

Wolfgang Puck is being sued over a restaurant bathroom -- not because a woman claims it was covered in "urine and feces" -- but because someone allegedly ripped her off the crapper while she was in mid-squat.

Spago

The woman claims she just wanted to take care of some toilet business during a lunch at Puck's most famous Beverly Hills restaurant, Spago back in 2007. But according to the lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, the bathroom floor was covered in "standing pools of urine and feces" -- and the only usable toilet didn't have a lock on the door.

Here's where it gets messy -- the woman, Majorie Linden, claims she had to use one of her hands to hold the door closed while she took care of business on the throne. But mid-squat, with her hand stuck firmly on the handle, another woman allegedly yanked the door open causing Linden to fall "face-first onto the tile floor."

Marjorie claims the fall broke her back, messed up her knee, and caused serious mental damage -- among other things. Needless to say, she's suing.

But reps for Spago claim the woman is completely full of crap when it comes to the cleanliness of their bathrooms -- "In our 27 years of business we've never had an issue close to this ... that portion of the claim is totally without merit."

What the Puck Is Jumping the Shark?

By adding portraits of Heidi & Spencer to the A-list covered walls of CUT restaurant in Bev Hills, Wolfgang Puck definitely "jumped the shark" this weekend. Just don't try asking him what that means.

Why Won't Puck and Public Health Reveal Famous Hosts?

Composite of Wolfgang Puck and the county seal of Los AngelesWhy is everybody concerned about not revealing the hosts of the parties catered by Wolfgang Puck's catering company, which exposed hundreds of guests to the Hepatitis A virus? Wolfgang Puck's people wouldn't tell us, and the head of Public Health for Los Angeles County won't tell us, despite multiple chances to do so.

And so we're wondering: What is it about these hosts that makes Puck's company and the L. A. County Department of Public Health think that it's better to keep the hosts' identities secret than to get the word out as quickly and widely as possible, using the media to help prevent the spread of the virus?

An official from Public Health told TMZ earlier in the week that some of the hosts were "very high profile people." To that we say, so what?

Dr. Jonathan Fielding, MD, MPH, the Director of Public Health for LA County, tells TMZ, "I don't believe that broad notification is the best way to reach people. It is much better for the people who hosted these parties to contact their guests directly." But why, we ask?

Fielding says that yesterday, after TMZ put pressure on County officials, the Department gave hosts of these parties a letter, warning them of their exposure. He said that his staff would work with the hosts "today and Monday" to confirm that their guests would be notified, but could not guarantee that all would get the notice.

And again, when pressed, neither Dr. Fielding nor Puck's people could provide a specific legal rationale for not revealing the names of the hosts of these parties. Dr. Fielding cited "privacy concerns" and the fact that some of the parties were held in private homes.

The Clock Is Ticking -- Tick Tick Tick

The hepatitis scare triggered by an employee working for Wolfgang Puck's catering service is shrouded in mystery.

Puck catered 14 events between February 1 and February 20, at which an employee was infected with acute Hepatitis A. Puck's reps would only confirm one event to TMZ -- a Sports Illustrated party.

So what other events did Puck cater? They won't tell us. They say it's a matter of privacy and it's up to the Los Angeles County Health Department to notify individuals who may have been exposed. We've called the Health Department multiple times today and got the runaround. So what's the deal if someone was at the party and doesn't know he or she was exposed? Sounds pretty much like tough luck.
