Wyclef Jean
His Haitian Charity
Accused of Funny Money Business

1127_wyclef_jean_reg
Wyclef Jean and his former charity, Yele Haiti, are facing new allegations that the bulk of the money they raised for the people of Haiti after the earthquake was misappropriated ... and some went right into his family's pocket ... allegedly.

Yele Haiti took in $16 million in 2010, according to records obtained by the NY Post. But the paper claims only $5.1 million went to emergency relief efforts, including food and water delivery to makeshift survivor camps.

According to the Post, a company called P&A Construction received $353,983. That company, the paper says, is run by Warnel Pierre ... Wyclef's brother-in-law.

The Post also says the documents show $1,008,000 went to a company called Amisphere Farm Labor Inc. -- a company the paper says never filed the proper paperwork in Florida so they can do business. However, the Post says a man listed as the company's head bought three properties in Florida last year, including a condo in an upscale waterfront community.

The charity came under fire in January 2010. Jean responded then by saying, ""Have we made mistakes? Yes. Did I ever use Yele money for personal benefit? Absolutely not."

Jean resigned as head of the charity in August 2010.

Jean issued a statement, which reads in part, "The percentage of funds used is consistent with NGOs and Not For Profits operating in Haiti at the time. I have acknowledged that Yele has made mistakes in the past, including being late in IRS filings, but that is old news."

Wyclef Jean -- Shot in Haiti, Released from Hospital

Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand yesterday just outside Port-au-Prince in Haiti.

Wyclef Jean Shot
He was treated at a local hospital and released.

A rep for the singer said the bullet just grazed his hand and he's doing well, saying, "He’s fine now. It happened late yesterday night and he was released after a couple hours.”

The shooting comes on the eve of the presidential elections.  Wyclef was a candidate but ruled ineligible because of residency requirements.

UPDATE: Wyclef says he had just left his car, when he heard gunfire. He says the next thing he noticed ... he saw blood on his shirt and shoes. He has no idea who fired shots or whether he was even the target.

Sean Penn & Wyclef -- No More HATE-ee, The VIDEO

Moments after Sean Penn and Wyclef Jean buried the hatchet in their nasty feud over Haiti ... they were ripping it up on stage at a benefit show -- and TMZ's obtained video of their peace summit.

In the video -- shot Friday at the Help Haiti event at B.B. Kings Blues Club & Grill -- 'Clef is singing and dancing ... while a few feet away Penn signs autographs.

Sources at the club have said they squashed their beef backstage in a dressing room.

Helluva turnaround, considering the two famously feuded last year when Penn questioned Wyclef's motives in running for president of Haiti -- and Wyclef accused Penn of drug use ... which Sean denied.

Wyclef Accused of Stealing Rap Song from 1996

Wyclef Jean is accused of ripping off a beat from the '90s rap group Blahzay Blahzay and using it on his album back in 2007 -- and now the group wants $2 million to make things right.

1124-wyclef-exd-tmz-01

The two founding members of Blahzay² have re-filed their lawsuit in NY, claiming 'Clef reached out to them before "Carnival" was released and asked for permission to sample their hit "Danger" on the Wylcef track "Welcome to the East."

The guys claim they told Wyclef they would not consent unless the former Fugee allowed them to appear on his album and get writing credits on "Welcome to the East."

1124_wyclef_launch_small1124_blahzay_launch_small

According to the docs, Wyclef never agreed to the terms but published the album anyway -- and then sent the guys a check ... which the rappers claim they "promptly rejected and returned." Now they want $2,000,000 to make things right.

Blahzay originally filed the suit last year -- but we're told they backed off when Wyclef;s people expressed an interest in negotiating a settlement. A source connected to the case tells us the negotiations fell apart ... so Blahzay decided to refile the suit.

Wyclef Rival - Haiti Presidential Run 'Not a Good Thing'

Wyclef Jean has at least one critic who thinks his pursuit of the Haitian presidency is "not a good thing" -- and it happens to be a musical rival who sued the former Fugee just last year.

Wyclef Jean President
TMZ spoke to rapper MC Out Loud of the group Blahzay Blahzay -- who is currently locked in a legal war with Wyclef, claiming Jean illegally sampled part of Blahzay's 1995 hit "Danger" on the 2007 song "Welcome to the East."

Out Loud tells us he's concerned about Wyclef's jaunt into politics due to several allegedly shady dealings ... saying, "We call him Wy-theft ... so many foul business moves."

Out Loud also says of Wyclef's presidential hopes, "There's nothing wrong with the move if he can help  ... but when artists enter the political arena, it's not a good thing."

Will Smith & Toby Keith -- Norwegian Rap Attack

So, Toby Keith can rap -- but that's not the most surprising part about this footage.

Will Smith, Wyclef Jean, Natasha Bedingfield and TK rocked out some classic rap at an after party for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Norway earlier this week -- yes, the Nobel Peace Prize has an after party!!!!

Just watch it -- pretty badass.

Wyclef -- Home a Loan

Wyclef Jean wants to set the record straight: The reason his unfinished Miami home went into foreclosure ain't his fault.

Jean insists his Dade County pad is not being auctioned off -- despite what these papers say.

He says was "robbed" by a dirty contractor who "sat on the job for two years." The house was set to be sold at a foreclosure auction last month -- seems Mr. Wy didn't pay his $2 million mortgage.

Wyclef claims all is now squared away with the bank. He now says he plans to sell the house for a profit. Interesting concept, since the loan is for more than $2 mil and the property recently was appraised at $1.4 mil.

Parolee? Wyclef Has Your Back!

Wyclef Jean was feeling charitable at the House of Blues last night -- and decided to give a free concert ticket to a random, homeless parolee he met outside!

The grateful man grabbed the ticket and immediately went after some scalpers -- because seeing a show probably isn't very high on his "I need to get my life together" list.

Nice try, 'Clef. Next time, throw him a twenty.
