UPDATE 2:16 PM ET: The Smithsonian has officially rejected O.J.'s suit.
It was generous of noted killer OJ Simpson to donate his "acquittal suit" to the Smithsonian Institution, but an official there told TMZ, "It is highly unlikely we will accept it."
A judge yesterday green lit the move to donate the suit Simpson was wearing when the misguided jury found him not guilty of murdering Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.
An official from the Smithsonian ... who did not want to be ID'd ... told TMZ this AM before accepting anything the item would go to museum curators for review. The curator then sends the item to one of the various museums -- e.g., the National Museum of American History. A review is then conducted.
The official said no one has offered the suit to the Institution yet, but the official does not believe OJ Simpson's acquittal suit will pass muster.
FYI ... We're told there is no "Crime Section." Oh, and one more thing. The Smithsonian passed on Monica Lewinsky's famous blue dress.

Michael Lohan is trying to enlist the help of famed lawyer Robert Shapiro in Lindsay Lohan's DUI probation case ... this after M.L. was shut down by the judge on Friday.
Michael was a no-show for Lindsay's hearing Thursday, but on Friday he went to the courthouse in Beverly Hills and tried going before Judge Marsha Revel. We're told the judge muzzled him, saying she would not let him appear in Lindsay's case.
Michael tells TMZ the judge told him to hire his own lawyer, who could then confer with the prosecutor who is handing Lindsay's DUI probation case.
Michael thinks his daughter is in trouble with substance abuse.
No immediate reaction from Shapiro or Lindsay's lawyer.

After pleading guilty to assaulting Rihanna last year, Chris Brown was spotted at a fashion show in Milan on Tuesday wearing long black leather gloves that only O.J. could love.
No word if Chris wore Bruno Magli shoes.

O.J. Simpson is a popular man while he's sitting behind bars. A slew of documentarians want to get a sit-down with The Juice.
Sources at the Lovelock Correctional Center tell TMZ at least 10 people who have never met O.J. have contacted the prison in hopes of landing an interview with Simpson. We're told all were shot down by Lovelock's PIO.
"If I Did It ... Again" would make a catchy doc title, don't you think?

Hulk Hogan's infamous O.J. comments are coming back to bite him in the ass -- because his estranged wife is now using them to further bleed his fortune dry.
Linda Hogan just filed papers in Pinellas County, Fla. claiming she needs an additional $8,200 a month from Hulk so she can move "thousands of miles away" from him because Linda feels she's in "imminent danger of becoming a victim."
And if Hulk doesn't pay up, Linda's threatening to file a domestic violence injunction against him -- with special terms to keep him from using the media to bash her.
The infamous cougar is also asking for $24,000 for "advanced rent and security deposits" to set up shop in sunny California...
...where O.J. happened to kill his wife.

For reasons beyond comprehension, while leaving his 30th birthday in New York City last night, John Mayer wanted to talk about O.J. Simpson's watch.
Mayer apparently followed the O.J. Rolex story on TMZ (the Goldmans saw a picture of O.J. wearing a Rolex in a photo on TMZ, and wanted the watch as part of the judgment against him). As Mayer went on about the timepiece, and even blogged about it on his site, he missed one key element -- the watch was a fake!
Just another example of how you need to read your TMZ every day to keep up with the news!

O.J., O.J., O.J. -- for the last two weeks he's been at it again. TMZ's astrosexologist Kiki T., author of "The Celestial Sexpot's Handbook," assessed O.J. Simpson's astrological situation. Is the former football star fated for trouble?
Simpson, whose birthday is July 9, 1947, is a Cancer. "Simpson is a Cancer sun, Leo rising and Pisces moon -- meaning he is an emotional basket case who lives at extremes," says Kiki. That means The Juice, "can be totally charismatic, feeling out his audience to play up and give them exactly what they want."
There's a dark side, though, too. "When you live to people please too much, you obviously become a ticking time bomb. I'm not surprised to find that the recent new moon eclipse in Virgo in his house of identity made him explode once more," says Kiki.

Actor James Woods says O.J.'s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, wanted to have an affair with him -- and once invited him to join her and O.J. in a kinky threesome.
Woods recently appeared on the "The Late Late Show" and related how he met the Simpsons several years before Nicole was murdered. He said that the troubled couple once invited him for a "late-night nightcap" in their hotel suite, reports Page Six. "It was very odd," said Woods.
A few days after meeting them, claims Woods, Nicole Brown Simpson sent him a letter that said "'Dear Jimmy, O.J. is out of town, maybe you would like to get together.' [I thought], this can't be possible."
J.Lo -- Baby on Board?
Is she or isn't she? Though reps for Marc Anthony tacitly deny that his real-life and "El Cantante" co-star Jennifer Lopez is pregnant, not everyone is convinced. Lopez is in the UK promoting her new album "Brave" and her traveling requests have many Brit tabloids buzzing with pregnancy rumors.

Hilary Duff's Hot Wheels
Some girls get jewelry or clothes from their boyfriends on their birthdays -- not Hilary Duff. The Duffster -- who turns 20 on September 28 -- received an early birthday present from hockey player boyfriend Mike Comrie this week.
Comrie told her that he had left the gift in the garage at Duff's sister Haylie's house. "I opened the garage and I was just, like, shocked, just standing there," Duff told
People.
The hunky puckster surprised the teen queen with a $100,000 Mercedes-Benz G-class SUV. "I've driven it tons," said Duff of the grand gift. "When I called him I was like, 'You're crazy! It's perfect!' "

Frenemy of the paparazzi Brad Garrett put the smackdown on O.J. yesterday, saying, "He (O.J.) has been lucky to be free this long, he should go to jail and be a good boy."
Garrett is one to talk! Hmm... is allegedly expressing distaste for African Americans hanging around Malibu, and smacking a TMZ cameraman, how good boys act?
Garrett's not so big after all.
