Sean Diddy Combs, AKA Puff Daddy, is the definition of a mogul. Starting his career as the director of A&R at Uptown Records, he was integral in launching the careers of Mary J. Blige and Jodeci, and later started his own label, Bad Boy Records, which has fostered talent that includes Mariah Carey, Method Man, Boyz II Men, Lil' Kim and more. He was born Sean John Combs on November 4, 1969 in Harlem, New York City, and was raised in Mount Vernon, the son of Janice (Smalls), a model and teacher's assistant, and Melvin Earl Combs, a U.S. Air Force veteran who died when Sean was two. Combs' solo music career began in 1997 with his first single, "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down," which shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, quickly followed by a No. 1 debut album that has gone Platinum seven times. This Grammy Award-winning debut was just the start of Combs' massive career, which has garnered countless No. 1 records, three Grammy Awards and ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year honor. Recently, he took the internet by storm with his sonic motion picture, "MMM," which was met with overwhelming critical praise from outlets like Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, XXL and The FADER. Combs and Bad Boy released a 20th Anniversary Bad Boy Collection in Spring 2016, featuring 80+ award-winning, chart-topping songs from throughout the history of the label. Combs headlined a nationwide "Puff Daddy & The Family" tour during the summer of 2016 and will release is expected to release his next full-length album, "No Way Out 2," in 2016. Combs has also become an established actor and executive producer in both film and television, appearing in more than a dozen films, including "A Raisin in the Sun," for which he won an NAACP Award for Best Actor; partnering on TV series such as "Making the Band II;" and executive-producing the Academy Award-winning documentary "Undefeated" and the Academy Award-nominated "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom." In 2013, he launched his own music television network, REVOLT, a driving force in music and culture. Combs recently established REVOLT Films, a multi-faceted production company already making waves for the recent success of 2015's Sundance-favorite, DOPE. Beyond leaving his mark on the music and film industries, Sean Combs has also established himself as a lifestyle brand with a wide portfolio of projects spanning from fragrances to health and wellness. An instrumental sartorial force, his Sean John fashion line has received numerous accolades and awards, including the launch of four Sean John fragrances, the first of which quickly became the top-selling fragrance across America. Through a partnership with Diageo, Sean Combs' wildly popular Ciroc Vodka has become the standard for premium vodka, prompting the entrepreneur to acquire luxury tequila brand DeLeón and launch the fitness and wellness water brand AQUAhydrate. Sean Combs continues to apply the same drive and entrepreneurial spirit to his philanthropic work and political activism, most-recently leading the response to Flint, Michigan's water crisis by pledging one million bottles of his AQUAhydrate water along with long-term assistance to the area. In August 2016, Combs launched Capital Preparatory Harlem School, a charter school that he founded in Harlem, NY.  See full bio on IMDb »
