Initially a backup Safety, Johnson started 10 games during the 2009 season, and eventually starting in more games the following years. Johnson proved to be a key special player in 2012, racking up 64 yards on two fake punts and picking up first downs after runs of 24 and 40 yards. A turning point for Johnson's career was in 2013 when, in a game against New Orleans, Johnson lost the top of his middle finger during a week 3 game. Despite his injury, he returned to the sport 3 games later and would eventually go on to play the best football of his career. 2014, in particular, was the player's best season. Johnson achieved a career-high 92 tackles, four interceptions (two of which resulted in touchdowns), one sack, and six defended passes.
