Scott Norwood

Scott Allan Norwood (born July 17, 1960) is a former American football placekicker in the NFL who played for the Buffalo Bills. Norwood was an integral part of its offense during the late 1980s and early 1990s, and kicked in Buffalo's first two Super Bowl appearances. Although achieving a modest career in the NFL, Norwood is remembered for missing a 47-yard field goal at the end of Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants, which was the first in four consecutive Super Bowl losses for the Bills: the first to the New York Giants, the next year to the Washington Redskins, followed by two consecutive losses to the Dallas Cowboys. Norwood was born in Alexandria, Virginia and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1978. He played both football and soccer at James Madison University and graduated with a business degree in 1982 . Norwood quickly became an invaluable asset to an offense that was going places as the Bills' general manager, Bill Polian, assembled talent like Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Bruce Smith.
