George Lopez lost a bunch of money this week because of Geico, whose cavemen characters helped nudge him off the ABC-TV grid. At least Lopez made it to the promised land of syndication; others in the annual network TV upfront derby weren't so lucky.
Paul Haggis: On the film side, Haggis, who shares his hometown of London, Ontario with hottie couple Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams -- is used to making history. He's the only screenwriter responsible for back-to-back Best Pictures ("Million Dollar Baby" and "Crash"). But on the small screen, his much ballyhooed NBC drama "The Black Donnelly's" is simply ... history. Maybe Haggis should have taken the hint when the network relegated an eighth episode, "God is a Comedian," to the realm of iTunes because it was deemed too violent. Squeezed in between "The Departed" and "The Sopranos," this story of four brothers in an Irish mob family wound up not having the luck of their brethren.

That giant exhale you heard last Friday was all the "Studio 60" fans rejoicing after learning the show would be picked up for a full season.
Now we can enjoy the show in peace, without wondering what the show's fate will be.

Anyway, this week's episode picks up where last week's left off -- mainly with Jack and Danny trying to keep Simon and Tom out of jail. In a clip from tonight's episode, the judge (played by John Goodman) explains why he can't speed up a hearing for Tom Jeter (Nathan Corddry).
"Studio 60" airs tonight at 10PM ET/PT on NBC.

Ok, maybe we're exaggerating a little bit there -- but nonetheless, the much-hyped, overly-promoted (PerezHilton.com brought to you by "Studio 60"!) new NBC show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" finally premieres tonight.
The hour-long drama, from "West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin and starring "Friends" alum Matthew Perry, is about the behind-the-scenes happenings at a late-night sketch comedy show (think "Saturday Night Live," but not). The show also co-stars Bradley Whitford, Amanda Peet, D.L. Hughley, Sarah Paulson, Steven Weber and Timothy Busfield.
"Of course it's a challenge after the last show I did to change it up a little bit," Perry says. "I think this is different enough."
"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" premieres tonight (finally!) on NBC 10PM ET/PT.

The highly-anticipated new show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" premieres this Monday, but you can get a behind-the-scenes look at the set right now.

Timothy Busfield, who plays Cal Shanley on the show, gave cameras a tour that included a water cooler with no water, an audience with no live people, and a glimpse of Matthew Perry, Thomas Schlamme and Bradley Whitford along the way.
Don't miss the premiere of "Studio 60" September 18 at 10PM ET/PT on NBC.

Assuming you're not the type of person who downloads illegally posted television shows off of the Internet, this might be your first peek at the most-anticipated new show of the season, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."
"Studio 60" stars Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford and Amanda Peet -- and, oh by the way, is created and written by "West Wing" messiah Aaron Sorkin. The show is a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional late night sketch comedy show on a fictional network.
In the premiere, the show's executive producer has a meltdown after a possibly controversial sketch is cut from the show. The new network entertainment chief (Peet) turns to former two former writers (Perry and Whitford) to come in and restore the show to glory.
In this clip, Matthew Perry storms in to meet with his new bosses and reveals a little too much information.
"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" premieres September 18 at 10PM ET/PT.
