Gwen Stefani is not a man and wants nothing to do with hookers -- but according to a new lawsuit, Gwen claims she's being manipulated into all sorts of manly, unGwen-like behavior for a new "Guitar Hero" video game.

The band No Doubt is suing the makers of a new game called "Band Hero" -- claiming gamers were only supposed to be able to use No Doubt's digital images to sing 3 No Doubt songs.
But in the lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, the band claims Activision "transformed No Doubt band members into a virtual karaoke circus act" by having them "sing, dance and perform over sixty songs."
The band is particularly pissed that Gwen Stefani's animated image can channel a male voice to sing "Honky Tonk Woman" by the Rolling Stones ... a song which contains lyrics about "having sex with prostitutes."
The band is suing for an injuction prohibiting "the unauthorized use of the No Doubt's name and likeness" in the game ... along with an undetermined amount of damages.
UPDATE: TMZ spoke with a rep from Activision who tells us, "Activision has a written agreement to use No Doubt in Band Hero – an agreement signed by No Doubt after extensive negotiations with its representatives, who collectively have decades of experience in the entertainment industry ...
... Activision believes it is within its legal rights with respect to the use and portrayal of the band members in the game and that this lawsuit is without merit."

Team Courtney Love is finally expanding on why she's so pissed off at the makers of Guitar Hero -- and it seems her beef is over the songs that the digital version of her husband is forced to sing in the game.

TMZ spoke with Love's attorney who told us Cobain's widow did give permission for the game makers to use Kurt's name and likeness -- but she never, ever signed off on a deal that would allow them to make Kurt sing Bon Jovi tunes in the game.
Love's lawyer told us, "Activision is exploiting Kurt's image in a manner anathema to the very essence of his music, spirit and essence.
I along with Ms. Cobain hope those who love Kurt's music strongly voice their sentiments to Activision and demand his image not be debased by singing the songs of Bon Jovi.
Bon Jovi gave Love a bad name? How ironic.

Courtney Love is on the warpath -- threatening to "sue the s**t" out of the people behind Guitar Hero after she saw Kurt Cobain's image in the video game.
Cobain's widow just unleashed a serious Twitter attack on Activision -- the game developer -- saying they never got her permission to use Kurt's image ... and she wouldn't have given it to them if they had asked. Here's a sample:
"not in twenty JILLION years would i EVER have allowed this and this islethal."
"we get NO money for this, travesty, Frances gets NO money for the rape."
Love is no stranger to lawsuits ... we'll let you know when she takes this thing to court.
UPDATE: Activision released the following statement:
"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero® 5."

Hardcore gamers are squealing in a new lawsuit that the hugely popular "Guitar Hero lll" video game doesn't pump out surround sound while being played on Nintendo Wii. Beat it nerd!

TMZ has obtained the class action suit filed by one distraught player in Federal Court alleging that Activision, who makes the highly addictive guitar game, claims that when it's played on the Wii, the audio is in Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound. The addicts say it just ain't so! The suit claims the game actually "only permits mono sound."
The true miracle -- that this player could rip himself away from the game long enough to actually file a lawsuit.
