The mother of Akon's child has been trying (and failing) to serve him with legal papers over child support -- so now she's gonna call him out in the L.A. Times.

The lawyer for Farrah Coleman tells us they will be taking out an ad in Monday's L.A. Times to serve Akon publicly. If he doesn't respond, they will pursue a default judgment.
But we caught up with Akon in NY -- and it's all news to him. As he told our guy, "You got a hold of me and you ain't even trying. I'm a celebrity. My schedule is on the internet. You can go on my MySpace, it'll tell you where I'm at!"

The guys who sued Common this week for copyright infringement are now taking aim at Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Akon -- accusing them of ripping off the exact same song!

In a lawsuit filed the day after Common's, Songster, LLC -- which owns the rights to the song "When Will the Day Come" -- claims Bone, Akon and producer Swizz Beatz jacked their music for the collaboration "I Tried."
Songster is seeking unspecified damages -- no word on who they'll sue next.

Akon made a baby with a woman who now wants him to make child support payments -- but she claims the only thing he does better than sing is hide from process servers.
We're told Sara Coleman's lawyer has been desperately trying to serve Akon -- even at Michael Jackson's memorial -- but so far no luck.
Akon has already taken a paternity test -- and it was a match! The kid is 6 months old.
Akon's lawyer gave us the following statement:
"Akon has taken responsibility and has been extremely cooperative and proactive in handling this private matter. Paternity was only established just over 30 days ago. Since the case was filed outside of Georgia jurisdiction, where he is a legal resident, Akon is currently in the process of engaging counsel in California and will continue to handle this matter in a timely manner."

As part of his community service for throwing a teenager offstage in a nearby town, Akon met with students in Poughkeepsie, NY today for a forum on gun violence -- speaking publicly about Dolla, his protege who was gunned down in L.A. last week.

Check out The Poughkeepsie Journal for more of Akon's speech.

Suge Knight and his cronies vehemently denied sending peeps to rob Akon's producer at gunpoint, but listen between the lines -- it definitely sounds like something went down.

We've now spoken with one of the victims of the home invasion robbery early this morning -- a man who works for Detail, Akon's producer -- and he says Suge Knight and money are behind the incident.
Christopher Walker tells us at about 3:00 AM five men broke into his home with guns and said they were there to collect a debt on behalf of Suge Knight. They claimed Detail owed Suge money, and then proceeded to collect on the debt.
Walker says Detail was asleep in one of the bedrooms. The men entered the bedroom but did not get Detail out of bed. Instead, they stole $170,000 worth of jewelry from his room.
Walker adds they demanded a key to the safe and said they would kill all four people in the house if they didn't get it. The robbers didn't get the key -- instead, they took the 130 pound safe.
Walker says they also took stereo equipment and a key to a Mercedes. He claims the total heist was more than $200,000. A police source tells us it's more like $300,000.
Walker says the feud ignited in Arizona during NBA All-Star weekend when Suge got his face smashed in by two men who worked for Akon. Walker says that incident was over the same alleged debt that triggered this morning's home invasion.
Walker says the robbers put a gun to his head and forced him to the ground but he and the others were just scratched up. Walker's brother and a sound engineer were also in the house.

One of Akon's employees got a special visit last night -- from some home invasion robbers.
TMZ has learned four to five "black males" -- brandishing firearms -- rolled into a Van Nuys home occupied by a man who works for Akon last night and took a bunch of his stuff, including expensive stereo and recording equipment. Total heist value: $300,000.
We're also told keys to a Mercedes were stolen.
We're told detectives are on the scene right now.

For the second time in 9 months, Suge Knight got his face punched in -- and the alleged ass-beater claims to be Akon's business manager.
It all went down in a private party at the W Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ where Suge was attending a private party for NBA All-Star weekend. Cops say they were called to the scene by hotel security who warned about a brewing fight between two groups in the VIP area.
According to the Scottsdale PD website, when cops arrived, they saw a man punch the victim -- aka Suge -- two times in the head." Officers had to break out the tasers to "quell the fight."
The suspect, Robert Carnes, Jr., was charged with one count of felony aggravated assault -- they ruled it a felony "due to the severity of the victim's injuries." Another man was also arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
According to the Scottsdale PD, "Carnes reported to officers that he is employed as the business manager for singer 'Akon.'"
Suge was transported to a local hospital and treated for facial injuries.
UPDATE: Akon's people tell us, "Akon had already left the party and was in his hotel room at The W when the incident occurred."
UPDATE: Akon's publicist released the following statement about Robert Carnes Jr., the guy accused of beating Suge's ass: "He is not Akon's business manager, David Bolno is. He is with Akon's camp."

The suspect -- Robert Carnes, Jr. -- is being held for felony aggravated assault.
As far as we know, Suge has been released from the hospital.
UPDATE: Akon's publicist released the following statement about Robert Carnes Jr., the guy accused of beating Suge's ass: "He is not Akon's business manager, David Bolno is. He is with Akon's camp."
UPDATE: TMZ has also learned Akon was the host of the party at the W last night -- a 944 Magazine All-Star Weekend wrap-up celebration. We're told the incident happened "after the conclusion of the party."

Akon says his goal for 2009 is to be more successful than 2008 -- so instead of chucking one kid off his stage and dealing his way out of a trial, he'll try for two.

New video has surfaced from Akon's girl-smacking concert in Guyana -- and A's people claim this footage tells a much different story than the shorter, edited version that's been heating up the blogosphere this week.

This version shows what happens directly after Akon nails two women who got too close to the singer. If you've seen the original, you know it cuts off right after the whacking. We're not sure this completely vindicates the guy, but check it out and judge for yourself.

Akon -- who infamously tossed a kid off stage last year -- showed Lady Gaga his fine-tuned technique while they performed at Rehab in Las Vegas this weekend.

Rapper Akon has pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and harassment, after allegedly tossing an underage fan off a stage.
Akon showed up at the Fishkill, NY Police Department today to be processed -- in advance of his scheduled 9:00 AM court appearance. He rolled up in a black Cadillac Escalade SUV -- natch.
The town justice released the 34-year-old singer on his own recognizance following his brief court appearance. Akon was told that he will not be forced to be present at future court appearances and his lawyer can stand in for him. His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, who has also represented P. Diddy, said in a written statement "It was never Akon's intention to violate the law. This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets."
The next court date is in January.

What in the hell?! Akon and Ludacris have so much dough, their camels have steering wheels! Move! Get out the way!

The two hip-hop stars are just outside of Dubai for their first Middle East performance which launches MTV Arabia. Do those rims spin?

Akon, hip-hop singer and amateur concertgoer tosser, is singing a new tune -- "Sorry, Blame It On Me" -- where he offers apologies for his recent troublesome events -- including lewd dancing at a club in Trinidad with a 14-year-old pastor's daughter, and causing Verizon to dump their sponsorship of Gwen Stefani's tour, reportedly because of Akon's shenanigans. Someone's had a busy summer!
TMZ inside sources reveal that Akon did not pen the song. Say what?! It seems DJ and producer Clinton Sparks actually wrote the entire ballad -- even though his credit is listed as co-writer and producer. Sparks will fly!
This leaves many wondering if Akon's apology is more of a publicity stunt to capitalize on his bad decisions. An insincere apology? From a man who allegedly practices polygamy? Say it ain't so!
