Pretending to be David Lee Roth is child's play compared to David Kuntz's frightening past.
Kuntz was involved in a 1989 murder trial that painted him as a manipulative master that talked one of his girlfriends into killing the other.
The story is nuttier than the last!

Cops say they've id'd the man who pulled the rhinestone wool over their eyes claiming to be David Lee Roth.

According to the Toronto Star, Ontario Provincial Popo are fingering David Kuntz as the cashew-allergic nut that has been duping people across Canada.
In May, the fake Dave fooled Ontario cops that pulled him over for speeding -- and told them he was suffering an allergic reaction to nuts. The cops then went on the local news talking about how they helped save Diamond Dave's life.

UPDATE: Canadian cops say they have identified the imposter who is running around Ontario claiming to be Diamond Dave! A police spokesperson says the man has "scammed a lot of people" and could be charged with obstruction of justice for giving a false name to cops. Apparently this dude has done this before.
Someone is impersonating David Lee Roth all over the Great White North!
The faux Diamond Dave first surfaced on May 23, after a man suffering from an allergic reaction to nuts told two Canadian cops and paramedics he was the Van Halen frontman. Now a local police spokesperson admits he's not sure if the cops on the scene actually asked for i.d.
Now "Roth" has been spotted at the Liquid Lounge in Hamilton, Ontario, reportedly singing a song and partying it up with who was described as two nurses from the hospital. The Liquid Lounge's owner says the man was wearing "expensive clothes" and sporting a hospital bracelet.
Yesterday, Dave told us he never had an incident with cops and "the only thing I'm allergic to is criticism."

David Lee Roth wants you to know he can eat as many nuts as he wants!
Diamond Dave tells TMZ: "I was in Canada only from July first through the fourth for a performance at the Quebec City Summer Festival. I had no encounters or incidents with the police. The only thing I'm allergic to is criticism. -- Love, Dave"
A story that circulated earlier this week -- fueled by actual interviews with two Canadian police officers -- claimed cops had to save Dave's life after he went into anaphylactic shock from eating nuts.
Dave's rep says he is not allergic to nuts. Good fashion sense? Well, that's another story.

Van Halen won't have to call Sammy Hagar back quite yet!
Diamond David Lee Roth was reportedly pulled over for speeding in Ontario, Canada last month when officers noticed the rocker was having a medical emergency -- Roth was suffering from a severe allergic reaction to nuts.
An ambulance was called and Roth, a paramedic himself, was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. The officers are being credited with saving Roth's life.
Calls to Roth's reps have not been returned.

With Van Halen announcing plans for a reunion tour, what better time to ask David Lee Roth for his opinion on Lindsay Lohan? Well, as good a time as any, really.
The band will kick off its tour in Charlotte on September 27, but they were at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles today to make the big announcement. When our photog was able to catch up with Diamond Dave as he made his way into the elevator after the press conference, we posed the Lindsay question to him. Roth had a simple answer: "Take two aspirin and give me a call in the morning."
Wait, is that supposed to help her?

At the movies this weekend, it's all about 300 Spartans preparing for glory, but for the Z List, it's all about five celebrities who should be sorry.
Ann Coulter: The blonde bombshell of right wing punditry was officially inducted into the exclusive boys club of Michael Richards, Mel Gibson and Isaiah Washington, as major fallout continued to build in the wake of her derogatory description of Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards. A number of newspapers have dropped her column, she's lost a bunch of website sponsors, and all of a sudden, perhaps for the first time, even her fans are looking past the long legs and long locks. Hasn't Coulter learned anything from Hollywood's terrible trio? You don't deem it a "schoolyard taunt;" you apologize, as quickly and as contritely as you can.

Break out your spandex pants, start practicing your karate kicks; David Lee Roth is officially returning as the front man for Van Halen.

Founding band member Eddie Van Halen made the first official announcement to TMZ, saying "It feels like a whole new beginning to be back with Dave and to be playing with my brother and my son. We look forward to going on tour."
Roth, an original member of Van Halen, quit the group in 1985. He rejoined the band briefly in 1996, only to quit again a few months later. Roth hasn't performed live with the group since 1984.
As TMZ first reported, Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, will be playing bass with the supergroup on their upcoming tour. According to the band's rep, Janie Liszewski, the tour will cover most major U.S. cities, including L.A. and New York.

TMZ caught up with David Lee Roth in Manhattan last night, and he warned that a potential Van Halen reunion could result in a NASCAR-style wreck. Or a "Jerry Springer"-like brawl. Or even a "Knots Landing"-esque bitchfight!
Diamond Dave, looking dapper and well-coifed outside of Marquee, said that he's excited that Van Halen was nominated for a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but wondered whether the band would spontaneously combust if they reunited. For months, the band has hinted at a reunion, but Roth admitted in May that he hasn't spoken to guitarist Eddie Van Halen for almost two years.
"A Van Halen reunion is a lot like NASCAR -- are you there to see the winner or the crash?" mused Dave. "In this aspect, we're a lot closer to "Jerry Springer" meets "Knots Landing, which, to me, sells T-shirts." And probably tickets too.

Ok, we've been through many of these Van Halen reunion rumor cycles over the years. And, I'm sure we're still aways off from this actually happening, if it ever does, but last Friday Eddie Van Halen at least opened to the door slightly to once again sharing the stage with David Lee Roth.

Eddie called in to the Howard Stern Show last Friday and Howard pressed him about the possibility of a Van Halen reunion. In addition to announcing he was now cancer free, Eddie said he was open to playing again with Roth. No specific plans were mentioned, but now that it's out there I fully expect David Lee to be making a pitch to his old pal.
Van Halen also told Stern that his next music project will be recording with his son Wolfgang and brother Alex Van Halen (drums). Will Wolfgang be doing vocals? I'm willing to bet it won't be Alex or Eddie. Enter Diamond Dave? However, if Roth does make his way back on stage with the Van Halen brothers, it may not be a complete reunion. Eddie is apparently not happy with bassist Micheal Anthony for touring with that other former VH lead singer, Sammy Hagar. Speaking with Stern, Eddie dismissed their "Other Half" project as merely a cover band. Anthony is not only a top tier bass player, but his harmonizing abilities added important dimensions to many VH tunes. VH without Anthony would be lacking. However, Eddie's son just happens to be a bass player...so will it be Wolfie and David Lee rounding out the next version of Van Halen? We'll have to wait and see...

4) The Goo Goo Dolls Have Just GOTTA KNOW: Why don't Van Halen and David Lee Roth get over it and put Van Halen back together?
It seems as though David Lee Roth has let go of any ill feelings he may have been holding against his former band mates. TMZ's Jeff Davidson reports that Roth was pleading to do a reunion tour with Van Halen. Unfortunately, Van Halen didn't feel the same. As for Van Halen -- according to their spokesman -- they're just wondering why the Goo Goo Dolls and George Tutuska (their original drummer) can't "get over it" and get him back in their band. Hmph! To see the question asked straight from The Goo Goo Dolls themselves, click here!
5) Erin Has Just GOTTA KNOW: I saw on "106 & Park" that The Game was engaged to an actress who played in "Road Trip" and "Remember the Titans," but I can't remember her name. Who is she?
Marriage may be the next topic for The Game (Jayceon Taylor) to rap about.... well maybe not, but he has announced his engagement with actress Valeisha Butterfield. Taylor gave his bride-to-be a 19-carat engagement ring and the two chose March 22 of next year as the date to officially seal their future together. Butterfield, who has had played in "Road Trip" and "Remember the Titans," said she was "just as surprised as everybody was." For more marriage proposals, take a look here!
6) Jen Has Just GOTTA KNOW: Is 'N SYNC still a band?
The pop band 'N SYNC has been on hiatus since 2002 after the release of their album "Celebrity." Although it seems as if they have called it quits, no official "they aren't together" has been released. Since their break, two members have come out with projects. Justin Timberlake just released the single "SexyBack" on July 7 (off his second solo venture), while JC Chasez is also in studio recording his second album, which can be expected late summer/early fall of this year. Lance Bass became a cosmonaut, however a trip way up north has yet to be accomplished due to financing. He is, however, focusing on his film production company Bacon & Eggs. Joey Fatone has tried his hand out at acting and has appeared in such flicks as "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "The Cooler." And Chris Kirkpatrick has been recording with his other band Nigels 11. For more boy band break-ups, read this.

David Lee Roth got bounced out of his recent morning talk radio gig faster than you can say "Jump." In the waning days of his radio career, Dave practically begged Van Halen to bring him back for a reunion tour. The brothers Van Halen declined. Now, Diamond Dave is trying to relive some of his glory days without his former bandmates, only this time with a twist. Instead of hiring young guns to play the old tunes, he's behind a bluegrass tribute to Van Halen called "Strummin' with the Devil ."
Roth spoke to Blender about the project and different sounds the bluegrass guys put to his songs:
"My insistence was, 'Let's take the music wa-a-a-y past where we found it," and therein it will begin to solicit whole new imagery, particularly for myself. So now when I hear 'Jump,' it's very visual and cinematic, to me. Same thing for 'Panama.'"
Speaking of visuals, Roth recently appeared on Leno with the bluegrass band. While the band was great, Dave looked more like a deranged lounge singer than the seminal 80s frontman of his past. This stuff would probably be pretty good if Dave wasn't involved in it. What passed for vaudevilian comedy in past times now looks simply clownish - and not the funny kind.
What was that tune he covered right after he first left Van Halen?? Oh yeah...."I'm so sad and lonely, nobody cares about me"
