Don Cornelius has made it clear he does not want to die ... married.
The "Soul Train" king was so desperate to get a divorce from his ex-wife Viktoria, that he actually put the following lines in divorce papers he submitted to L.A. County Superior Court:
"I am 72 years old. I have significant health issues. I want to finalize this divorce before I die."
The judge must have seen things Don's way -- the divorce was granted a couple of weeks ago.

Don Cornelius just pled no contest to one count "corporal injury resulting in traumatic condition of a spouse" for the beatdown of his estranged wife Victoria back in October.
The 72-year-old former "Soul Train" host was not present yesterday in L.A. County Superior Court in Van Nuys, where a judge put Don on 36 months probation and ordered him to pay over $1,000 in fines.
Also required:
-- 300 hours of community service
-- He cannot own, use or possess any deadly weapons
-- He cannot use or threaten violence to any person, especially Victoria
-- He must complete a 52 week domestic violence treatment program
-- He must stay 100 yards from the Mulholland estate where the attack took place
A protective order is also in place -- and the four other misdemeanors he was originally charged with were dropped due to the plea agreement.

Is 72-year-old Don Cornelius really the kind of guy you need to get TWO restraining orders against?
According to court documents, Cornelius's estranged wife, Viktoria, was granted a three-year restraining order on October 24, seven days after he was arrested for allegedly beating her up. Then yesterday, a judge issued a protective order against him on her behalf. Apparently all those years of wishes for love, peace and soul were just for ratings.
Viktoria filed for divorce back in August 2007.

TMZ has learned Don Cornelius of "Soul Train" fame was arrested last night on felony domestic violence.
It went down on Mulholland Drive in L.A. in the early evening. Someone called from Cornelius' home and LAPD responded to a "domestic dispute." After arriving on scene, they arrested 72-year-old Cornelius on charges of felony domestic violence. He was taken to the LAPD jail in Van Nuys where his bail was set at $50,000. He was released at 5 AM.
Cornelius is married to Victoria although the identity of the victim has not been released. The victim was not taken to the hospital and injuries are unknown.

"Soooooulllll Traaaaain" host Don Cornelius, 71, must have wanted to show the world he's still around -- so he shook it over to the Ivy, where there's always a camera on the menu. Say cheese!
A leather-clad Don was sure to show the cameras he was forkin' over a $20 tip to the valet -- but ended up grabbin' some change before he pulled out.
Let's hope it wasn't his last money, and he doesn't run out of gas, honey!
