Dr. Jan Adams, the non-board certified plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother the day before she died, has been sentenced to one year in jail after rolling over to a charge he drove super drunk last year.
Adams pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of DUI over an incident in the Bay Area last June where he was caught driving the wrong way on a freeway with a blood alcohol level of .20 -- more than twice the legal limit.
Adams will receive eight days credit toward his sentence from the time he served right after he was arrested.

Dr. Jan "Jailbird" Adams -- the dude who operated on Kanye's mom before she died -- showed up at court today to face the music for his latest DUI arrest, but you know the saying about justice delayed ... his case was delayed.
Outside court, Dr. Adams told our photog that he would love to speak to the media, but his lawyer was more into the whole right to remain silent thing. Sound familiar?

Dr. Jan "Jailbird" Adams has flown the coop! He was released from Solano County Jail on Tuesday after posting $10,000 bail.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for July 7. We are told Dr.-just-not-right-now Adams will be present in court -- if he doesn't get arrested again before that!

After being charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI, Dr. Jan "Jailbird" Adams appeared in court today to plead not guilty to the charges. Maybe he was so drunk he forgot!
Adams -- sporting fetching black and white striped inmate attire -- pleaded not guilty to driving while insanely drunk last week in Northern California. He's been sitting in a cell since his arrest early Thursday morning. The judge has ordered him held without bail until his next hearing on July 7. He can BBQ in the big house for the 4th!
Cops say Adams' blood alcohol was above .15 -- nearly twice the legal limit -- when they found him driving the wrong way on the freeway. Dr. Adams -- or just Jan since his medical license was just pulled -- operated on Kanye West's mother right before she died.

That shady Dr. Jan Adams just can't stay away from the danger zone, like the socialite he's rumored to be dating who could link him -- and not in a good way -- to that carb nemesis Dr. Robert Atkins.
We hear that he's cutting up with socialite Ildiko Varga. Don't know her? This chicky used to hook up with an alleged gigolo named Alexis Mersentes, who married Veronica Atkins after her hubby -- yes, THE Dr. Atkins -- died.

A totally unrepentant Dr. Jan Adams spews in an interview that any suggestion that he botched Kanye West's mom's surgery is "offensive" and "unfair."
Adams also tells People (in its latest issue) that the 11 malpractice suits uncovered by TMZ in the last week don't represent his deficiencies as a surgeon, but instead, "represent a bad decision in terms of choice of patient."
"When people say 'plastic surgery' they think of me," says Dr. Adams, who isn't even board certified in plastic surgery. Though he wouldn't comment on what happened to Donda West, Adams does say, "I'm thorough and I do my job well."

This will be the first on-camera interview Dr. Jan Adams has done since the death of Kanye West's mother.

This lovely woman was left with horrific scars after a surgery performed by Dr. Jan Adams.
TMZ TV interviewed Julie Coleman, who says her body is "marred for life," after she appeared as a patient on Dr. Jan's Discovery Health show "Plastic Surgery: Before and After."
Coleman gave TMZ photos of her body right after the operation.

A woman says she was left falling apart at the seams, literally, after an extremely botched plastic surgery by Dr. Jan Adams. She tells TMZ she thinks she was lucky to survive it.
The woman's intense surgery was chronicled on Adams' Discovery Channel show, "Plastic Surgery: Before and After" -- with the horrifying results she says conveniently edited out.

TMZ caught Dr. Frank Ryan last night outside of the Key Club, where he stressed the importance of doing some simple research before going under the knife.
Dr. Ryan, unlike Dr. Jan Adams, actually is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and will soon have his own show, "Doc Stars." Ryan has operated on stars like Gene Simmons, Shannon Tweed, DJ AM and Adrianne Curry.

Dr. Jan Adams once hosted a show called "The Other Half" -- where he talked about how things never go wrong immediately following surgery, but instead weeks and months after. Oops.
As we all now know, Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda West, died a day after going under Adams' knife for a tummy tuck and breast reduction.

Dr. Jan Adams is a Discovery Channel regular -- with the channel's website containing videos of him describing how "frighteningly short" recovery for some of his medical procedures can be. Well, we know that!
Donda West chose Adams, who has several DUIs on his record, to perform a tummy tuck and breast reduction last week -- she did not survive it. Frightening indeed.
