A tuft of Elvis Presley's 51-year-old wavy locks is going on the auction block ... and is expected to fetch around $12k.

One of Presley's friends has managed to hold on to the hair clump, which was cut off back in 1958 when the King enlisted in the Army, and is selling it as part of an auction of Elvis memorabilia on October 18 in Chicago.
For you non-serial killers, other less creepy items on the block include: autographed records, photos and an ultra-suede red shirt Presley once wore.

Former Illionois Gov. Rod Blagojevich thinks he's above the law. He also thinks he's the second coming of Elvis Presley. He's wrong on both accounts.

Blago, who was paid for the appearance, sung the Elvis classic "Treat Me Nice" as part of a downtown Chicago block party Friday night.
"Jailhouse Rock" would have been a more appropriate song choice.

Lisa Marie Presley -- who was briefly married to Michael Jackson back in the 90's -- said MJ once predicted he was headed down the same path as Elvis ... who died at the age of 42 after battling addiction to prescription drugs.

On her blog this morning, Lisa Marie said Michael once told her: "I am afraid that I'm going to end up like [Elvis], the way he did." She goes on to say, "I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that."
Lisa Marie also said despite what people think, her marriage to Michael wasn't a sham.

Talk about making a great last impression -- because the last time Pat Boone saw The King, one month before he died, dude made fun of Elvis' weight.

Like a mirror image of Elvis Presley's life, this poem written by the King of Rock 'n' Roll starts with promise and then ends in sudden, unforeseen tragedy.

The handwritten poem -- which is part of the massive Elvis auction going on at gottahaverockandroll.com -- is called "Ode to a Robin," and was sometimes recited by Elvis on stage and at one point was used as the answering machine message at his home.
Presley's poem could be yours for a hunka, hunka change -- an estimated 4-5 thousand bucks.
Fun fact: We're told former President Bill Clinton has ordered a catalog for the sale.

Necrostar Elvis Presley is back -- and TMZ's got him!

Think back to before the fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches to 1958, during the early Elvis craze, when he was shipped off for military duty. E spent the majority of his two-year stint in what was then West Germany, where he met a lil' young thang named Priscilla.
TMZ has uncovered these never-before-seen photos that document Elvis' return from Germany and his last days in uniform.

The King may have left the building but his prescription pills are still here: A bottle that contained Elvis Presley's prescription antihistamines was sold this week at an auction for more than $2,600. That's a mighty expensive prescription plan! While the bottle still contained some of The King's original pills, L.A. County police told auction house Julien's that it would be a federal crime to sell the bottle with pills included.
Other unusual Hollywood ephemera sold during the auction included a gold-plated gun owned by the Elvis, which sold for more than $28,000; Alfred Hitchcock's passport, which went for more than $19,000; and a prop umbrella once used by Marilyn Monroe for $42,000. The umbrella will become part of the collection of the Museum of Style Icons in County Kildare, Ireland.

"American Idol" will raise the dead on Wednesday and feature a performance with Celine Dion and ... Elvis Presley?!
While "A.I." teased their "Idol Gives Back" charity benefit by revealing that "two of the biggest stars in musical history come together," sources at last week's taping tell TMZ that Celine sang Elvis Presley's hit, "If I Can Dream" -- with an Elvis impersonator! Ugh! But we're told the impersonator was just used as a stand-in, and what you will actually see when the show airs is Celine singing with a virtual Elvis -- in the vein of Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable." Unbelievable!
At the taping, the remaining "Idol" wannabes also sang with Celine and Elvis, but as backup in the choir. Hallelujah! Elvis died nearly thirty years ago, while Celine has been singing at Caesars Palace in Vegas for the last four.
"Idol Gives Back" will help raise money to fight extreme poverty in the U.S. and Africa, and feature artists like Gwen Stefani, P!nk and Josh Groban.
A rep for "American Idol" could not be reached.

Elvis Presley, George Burns and James Brown are all alive and kickin' -- for a new ABC reality show.
Auditions took place this week for the show "The Next Best Thing," ABC is searching for the best celebrity impersonator -- and celeb lookalikes (read: wackos) came out of the termite infested woodwork to cause troubled double-takes on the streets of New York.
Doppelgangers for Kenny Chesney and John Travolta showed up as well -- though after taking a look at them, it's clear those two celebs have no need to worry about identity theft.

After being dead for three years, Johnny Cash has again topped the Billboard music charts -- for the first time in 37 years. Interestingly, TMZ did some digging and found out that The Man in Black is not the only artist who has had posthumous albums skyrocket to #1.
Tupac Shakur, aka 2Pac, was gunned down on a Las Vegas street in 1996 at the peak of his hip-hop career. Since that time, the rapper has released two albums that hit #1 on the charts-- once in 2001 and the other 2005. His mother Afeni Shakur is now controlling the artist's new album releases.
Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G or Biggie Smalls, was killed the following year. 2Pac and Biggie were engulfed in a very heated East vs. West Coast rap war that played out in their music. Biggie had two albums hit #1 following his death -- "Life After Death" and "Born Again."
Seattle band Nirvana, a band fronted by Kurt Cobain, lost its leader to suicide on April 5, 1994. The band released "MTV Unplugged in NY" shortly after the singer's death -- which shot to #1. Two years later, the band released "From the Muddy Banks of Wishkah," which also launched up the charts to #1.
This album success trend doesn't only appear in Generation X artists. Long before those musicians picked up an instrument or microphone, dead celebrities were raking in the album sales; Bob Marley, Janis Joplin and Elvis Presley all had #1 one records after their deaths.

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS -- The billionaire media mogul who holds an 85 percent stake in Elvis Presley Enterprises told Memphis leaders that Graceland should become an international tourist attraction on par with Disneyland or Universal theme parks.
Meeting with government and business officials Thursday, Robert F.X. Sillerman said he has plans to spruce up the area around the Memphis mansion where Presley died in 1977 and double the 600,000 annual visitors.
"As we are upon the 50th anniversary of Elvis Presley's explosion into our culture, it is only fitting that Graceland assumes an even more prominent role in American culture and tourism," said Sillerman.

The recording studio where Elvis Presley recorded "Heartbreak Hotel" is being torn down to make room for a parking lot.
And some say it's just heartbreaking.
"I'm disappointed that the studio is being torn down," said Gordon Stoker of The Jordanaires, Presley's primary background vocalists from 1956 to 1968. "But you can't hang on to everything your whole life."
The studio at 1525 McGavock St. near Nashville's Music Row was purchased in 1999 by auto-dealership magnate Lee Beaman, who had been leasing the half-acre property until recently, when he decided the dealership needed more parking for customers.
