Joe Francis has cojones. He's taking on Uncle Sam in court over a small bill -- around $34,000,000.
TMZ has obtained legal docs Francis filed in federal court, asking a judge to order the feds to release his money the government has frozen.
The IRS issued a tax lien against Francis earlier this month to the tune of $33,819,087.14. According to the new docs, the government went in and froze Joe's accounts over at UBS and Morgan Stanley. Joe told TMZ the accounts total $100 mil.
The "Girls Gone Wild" chief wants the judge to release the money, stat.
Joe says the frozen accounts have put him on the brink of bankruptcy.
The IRS wants some serious "Girls Gone Wild" money, because they've filed a lien against Joe Francis for a whopping $33,819,087.14 ... this according to documents obtained by TMZ.
The Federal Tax Lien doc was filed today. The IRS claims Joe owes the money for 3 years of back taxes -- 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2001, the IRS says Joe didn't pay $17,658,358. In 2002, the delinquency is $11,238,582.14, and in 2003, he owes $4,922,147.
It was less than 2 weeks ago that Joe got out of a sticky federal tax evasion case by copping a plea and avoiding prison.
Joe told TMZ, "I have no idea what it is." He says he does not owe the money and, "This is total retaliation for me beating them in court." Joe says the law the IRS is using hasn't been used against anyone in 20 years.
Joe says yesterday, the feds seized more than $100,000,000 in cash accounts of his.
Joe says the IRS is forcing him to file for personal bankruptcy, which he will do tomorrow.
Joanna Krupa from "Dancing with the Stars" has accomplished a feat not many women have been able to do: She was featured on a "Girls Gone Wild" video with Snoop Doggy Dog and managed to keep her clothes on the whole time.
TMZ has obtained some footage of Krupa on a "GGW" video she did with Snoop Dogg back in the day called "Doggystyle." On the tape, she's just one of the hot chicks Joe Francis uses to introduce the video.
Joe Francis claims Brody Jenner's 115-pound girlfriend threatened to kill him during a bar fight back in August -- and now the Girls Gone Wild kingpin is suing, claiming he feared for his life.
According to the lawsuit, Francis claims he was innocently walking through a crowd of people at "Guys and Dolls" nightclub in Hollywood, when Playboy Playmate Jayde Nicole suddenly struck him in the head, threw a drink on him and stated, "I'm going to kill you!"
Francis claims he was "startled and shocked" -- but then he saw Jayde reaching for a bottle. In the docs, Francis claims "in fear and apprehension of being struck a third time and that Nicole was going to carry out her threat to kill him," Joe grabbed Nicole's hair in "self-defense."
Joe claims Nicole fell to the ground -- but only because she "lost her balance on her high heels."
Later that night, Francis claims Jenner attacked him "in a jealous rage."
Francis is now suing both Brody and Jayde for battery, assault, negligence, slander, libel and false light -- because after the bar incident, Francis claims the two lied when they recounted the incident to a TMZ cameraman who was outside the club.
When you think about the fight for gay rights, isn't Joe Francis the first name that comes to mind? Yeah, us neither.
But either way, Joe was in D.C. on Sunday for the National Equality March. After all, with titles like "Girls Gone Wild: Girls Who Crave Girls" -- Joe has been supporting the LGBT cause in his own special way for years.
With his girlfriend suing Joe Francis for $1 million, we were kinda hoping for a showdown between Brody Jenner and the Girls Gone Wild head honcho at Khloe's wedding -- only problem, Brody never showed.
Though he is the bride's step-brother, Jenner was noticeably absent from the rushed nuptials -- and when we got him earlier in the day at LAX, he said he was leaving L.A. for NY.
Let's hope the boys at Houck Construction like naughty co-eds -- otherwise Joe Francis may have to write them a fat check.
Francis is being sued by a construction company that did work on his Bel Air, Calif. home. According to the lawsuit, Francis racked up a construction bill of $403,363.27. The company claims Joe forked over $356,329.61 -- but must have forgotten to carry a one or something because he still owes them $47,033.66 (plus another $24,848.19 in interest).
Perhaps Joe can trade a few thousand copies of "Girls Gone Wild Freshman Sex Orientation" to make up the difference.
Hours after Joe Francis got into a violent confrontation with Brody Jenner and his gf Jayde Nicole, cops responded to a 911 call that could help authorities determine -- who's lying and who's truth-telling.
The bar fight went down early morning 10 days ago. According to Jenner ... Francis was harassing his former girlfriend Abbey Wilson when Jayde poured a drink on him and all hell broke loose. In the end, Jenner punched Francis in the face and Francis' peeps allegedly returned the favor by tasing Brody.
More drama for "Girls Gone Wild" kingpin Joe Francis -- this time, he claims three of his most trusted employees hatched a plan to have the porn king thrown in prison so they could get away with stealing millions from the GGW empire.
In a lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Francis says it all began in 2002, when 3 "high-level employees" from his company hatched a plan to embezzle money through a new business called "WMRMarketing" -- which they created without Joe's knowledge.
According to court documents, Francis says the men "misused their positions" to approve deals with WMR so they could funnel GGW funds to the new company.
Here's where it gets really nasty -- Francis claims his company's former CFO/ CPA, Michael Barrett, began contacting the IRS and "falsely accusing [Joe] of criminal tax evasion, hoping that the IRS would prosecute and incarcerate Francis -- thereby removing the possibility that Francis could catch the ongoing fraud and theft by Barrett and his cohorts."
Francis was eventually indicted on a tax evasion charge in Reno, for allegedly claiming $20 million in false deductions.
Now Francis is suing all three of his former employees -- and WMR -- for an unspecified amount of cash ... we're assuming in the millions.
Everyone has a story about what went down between Joe Francis, Jayde Nicole and Brody Jenner -- and now we've spoken to everyone involved.
First we caught up with Joe Francis in Santa Monica. He tells us the surveillance video will support his story -- that Brody Jenner jumped him for no reason.
Then last night we got the last piece of the puzzle -- Abbey Wilson, Joe Francis' ex-girlfriend. She claims Jayde had her back when Joe tried to make an unwanted move on her.
Girls Gone Wild king Joe Francis scoffed last night at allegations that one of his people bribed his jailers in 2007 with lavish gifts in return for favored treatment. Joe says if anyone would bribe jailers on his behalf ... girls would be involved.
Two former Reno jail employees along with Aaron Weinstein -- a former GGW producer -- have been arrested in the alleged bribing scandal. Weinstein allegedly gave the jailers a Cartier watch, a $5,000 gift card to Sax Fifth Avenue, a big screen TV, $3,200 in cash and tickets to the Oakland Raiders games in return for special perks in the pokey.
Federal agents believe there's a reason Girls Gone Wild kingpin Joe Francis had such a wonderful time during his 2007 jail stint in Reno-- they claim he bought off his jailers with gifts, including tickets to see the Oakland Raiders!
Three former Washoe County jail employees were arrested for allegedly taking all sorts of lavish gifts from the porn king in exchange for jail favors -- like unrestricted phone use, the ability to sneak in food and protection from disciplinary action.
According to the feds, Aaron Weinstein, one of Joe's GGW producers played the role of delivery man -- allegedly dropping off a slew of gifts to the jail employees, including a $4500 Cartier watch, a $5000 gift card to Sax Fifth Avenue, $3,200 in cash, a big screen TV, a home entertainment system, airline tickets, and, of course, tickets to see the Oakland Raiders lose.
Weinstein was also arrested and charged with paying off a public official. If convicted, he faces up to 2 years in prison and serious cash fines.
Joe Francis is being sued after sending a pretty blunt email to his interior designers....blunt, as in "You are a f**king piece of s**t!"
Trip Haneisch and Associates have filed an entertaining lawsuit against Mr. Girls Gone Wild, alleging he not only refused to pay $284,626.06 for "luxurious furniture and other high end furnishing items" for his Bel Air home.
So here's the email Francis sent to the design firm, explaining in Joe's inimitable way, "Hadi - you are a f**king piece of s**t. I will see you in court you mother f**ker! F**k you! And if this is you [sic] attitude I can't wait to have Trip talk to the irs-talk to the irs all you f**king want-I have done nothinig wrong-hadi get a f**king life and quit kissing trips ass-you are a spineless piece of s**t and I will never talk to you ever again! This meeting is off!!! Did I forget to say f**k you again!!!
We are speculating, but it would appear Francis is not happy with the job.
