TMZ has learned that the man who was stabbed at the home of celebrity fitness guru Gunnar Peterson has pleaded not guilty to felony assault charges stemming from the violent incident last December.
23-year-old Nick Marino, who is free on $300,000 bail, entered the plea at Beverly Hills Courthouse earlier today. Marino was stabbed by a security guard with a pocket knife after allegedly breaking into Peterson's Beverly Hills mansion.
Sources tell TMZ that Marino and Gunnar's estranged wife, Janet Crown Peterson, were at one point romantically involved, but the relationship ended roughly five months ago. Janet then alleged in court documents that Marino stalked her and threatened violence.
Neither Gunnar nor Janet were home at the time of the stabbing. If convicted, Marino could face up to four years in jail. He is due back in court March 8.

A 23-year-old man who was stabbed by a security guard at the home of celebrity fitness guru Gunnar Peterson was arraigned today on one count of felony assault.
Nicholas Marino is being held on $30,000 bail on charges stemming from an incident Wednesday night at the multi-million dollar Beverly Hills home of Peterson and his estranged wife Janet. Sources tell TMZ that Marino and Janet were at one point romantically involved, but the relationship ended roughly four months ago. Janet then alleged in court documents that Marino stalked and threatened her with violence.
Neither Gunnar nor Janet were home at the time of the stabbing.
If convicted, Marino could face up to four years in jail. He did not enter a plea in today's hearing and will be back in court on January 19th.

TMZ has obtained chilling legal papers detailing how the children of the so-called Trainer to the Stars were allegedly threatened by his estranged wife's ex-lover.
Gunnar Peterson, who trains a slew of Hollywood A-listers, is in a nasty divorce with billionaire heiress Janet Peterson. Peterson was romantically involved with Nick Marino, but ended it four months ago. Two days ago, Marino was stabbed by a security guard after allegedly breaking into Janet Peterson's home.
In an application for a restraining order, filed by Janet Peterson just hours before the stabbing, she claims Marino "is seriously abusing drugs and alcohol again and that his behavior represents an imminent danger to me and my family." Peterson claims "he has stalked me at my residence, has broken into my office, and has sent me a stream of abusive text and cell phone messages," threatening to "come over to my house and 'take my children.'"

TMZ has learned that the man who allegedly stalked the estranged wife of the trainer to the stars was stabbed with a pocket knife after a brutal fight. Here's how it all went down...
Gunnar Peterson, who has trained numerous stars, including Nick Lachey, Matt McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez, is in the middle of a bitter divorce and custody fight with Janet Peterson, an heiress to a $4 billion fortune. After the couple split, the 43-year-old Janet began seeing 23-year-old Nick Marino, but broke off the relationship around four months ago. It was then that Marino allegedly began stalking Janet. We're told Marino left numerous phone messages for Janet threatening her life and promising to "take her children."
Enter Scott Ross, P.I. to the stars who works exclusively with mega-lawyer Mark Geragos. Sources say Janet called Ross late last week and told her she was in fear for her life and that Marino was an imminent threat. Ross then referred Janet to a company called The Solution Group, which conducts threat assessments, investigations and provides VIP security.

TMZ has learned a man was stabbed last night at the Beverly Hills home of Gunnar Peterson, Hollywood's most famous personal trainer, and the man who was stabbed was allegedly stalking Gunnar's estranged wife, Janet Crown Peterson.
Sources say 23-year-old Nicholas Marino, the stabbing victim, was romantically involved with the 43-year-old Janet, after she separated from Gunnar. We're told Janet ended the relationship but Marino would not accept it. Janet, an heiress to a $4 billion family fortune, went to court and obtained a restraining order against Marino. Gunnar obtained the restraining order along with Janet because the former couple was concerned for the safety of their three children.
Marino was stabbed by a security guard at the Peterson home. He was taken to a Los Angeles hospital and was arrested for making criminal threats, stalking and burglary. Marino allegedly broke into the house. He is currently in intensive care.
Peterson, who helped sculpt the bodies of Matthew McConaughey, Nick Lachey and Jennifer Lopez, was not at the home during the incident.
