It was almost pitch black outside Nobu last night -- but all the pappers snapping like crazy for Kate Hudson made it seem like the middle of the day.
Also in L.A.: Janeane Garofalo said she wouldn't be making "24" any funnier, Laura Prepon proved blonds don't always have more fun, double-S "stars" Shauna Sand and Sharon Stone hit up STK, Vanessa Minnillo traveled solo for a change and Lisa Rinna's fam was all yellow.
In NY: Madonna, ex-hubby Carlos Leon and their daughter Lourdes hit up the Kabbalah Center.

No, that's not a summer tourist backpacking through Europe -- it's tatty intellectual Janeane Garofalo taking her morning constitutional for some Starbucks.
There are only a few actresses who are selected to play "intelligent" characters. Janeane is the go-to girl when Hollywood needs someone to play "smart," as she does on "24." Here, she's seen smoking.

Nicole Richie be damned, Janeane Garofalo doesn't believe celebs get any special treatment when it comes to DUIs.
TMZ caught the self-described liberal (check out her tattoo!) on a hike to a Hollywood gas station for some popcorn on Saturday, where she told our photog, "They [celebrities] get castigated, joked about, whereas regular citizens have their privacy ... if anything, they get the same amount or more [jail time] just to be made an example of."
She better hope they don't make an example of her new co-star or she'll be out of the job -- Janeane's currently working on "24" with just-busted Kiefer Sutherland.

Actress/comedian Janeane Garofalo was so baffled to find photographers greeting her arrival in Los Angeles on Wednesday, she quipped, "I'm not a celebrity. I'm a moderately successful person." The truth about cats and dogs!
With her rocker pal Henry Rollins carrying suitcases in the background, the 42-year-old lamented to paps about the good ol' days, saying, "I was more famous in 1998." Just like James Van Der Beek, Monica Lewinsky and Hanson!
Poor Janeane, reality bites!
