John Cusack is suing a movie production company because it didn't have stopping power. Let us explain.
In the lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Cusack claims Intermedia Film Equities USA convinced him to star in a film called "Stopping Power." According to the suit, Cusack was guaranteed $4.5 million, whether the movie was made or not. And he was promised all his expenses would be paid, including $50k to cover the costs of his staff on location.
Pitbull lawyer Marty Singer, who filed the suit, claims Cusack traveled to Germany and began production, but Intermedia came to him and said they couldn't afford to pay him the guarantee and eventually canceled production.
The suit claims Intermedia and the other defendants never had the funds to pay Cusack and fraudulently induced him to travel to Germany and then tried and renegotiate a lower fee. Now that's a Grosse Pointe.
Cusack wants $5,600,000 plus punitives.

A fan in NYC finally caught Harry Connick, Jr. yesterday, after trying for 20 years to get a photo with him -- looks like he may have to wait 20 more, as Connick completely blew him off!
Also in New York -- a bundled up Madonna, bubbly bantering buddies Eva Mendes and Anne Hathaway, caped crusader Rosario Dawson, John Cusack and a fur-lined Nicollette Sheridan.

Emily Leatherman claims she isn't in love with John Cusack. She says she only wanted him to help bring attention to the fact that she was drugged up and sex-trafficked through the homes of powerful and famous men up and down the west coast. Actor John Cusack's alleged stalker Emily Leatherman tells reporters her harrowing tale of sex trafficking, death threats and ransacked apartments.
Cusack claims that Leatherman "is showing an unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside..." Cusack also added that Leatherman "...threatens to commit acts of violence against herself if I do not help her."
The judge ruled that Emily Leatherman to stay 500 feet away from the actor and must not attempt to communicate with Cusack, even by phone or email.
So what does Leatherman have to say about all this? She insists that she was only trying to contact famous people in the media in order to have them tell the world her tale of being sexually assaulted and harassed. She insists that the police refused to help her and that Tom Cruise's PR assistant gave her tickets to see Mr. Cruise.
In any event, Leatherman guarantees she will not bother Cusack again.

A Los Angeles woman was ordered to stay 100 yards away from actor John Cusack.
At a hearing Tuesday in Santa Monica, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled that Emily Leatherman must not in any way attempt to communicate with the actor, even by telephone or email.
Leatherman, who was present in court, had previously sent Cusack letters and shown up at places he was scheduled to appear over the last 16 to 18 months.
During the hearing, Leatherman told the judge she also had a legal run-in with Tom Cruise.
Cusack's court papers claim Leatherman has a history of arrests for assault with a deadly weapon. Cusack, who just turned 40, did not attend the hearing. Cusack states in his papers, "This person is showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside...." Cusack adds that Leatherman "...threatens to commit acts of violence against herself if I do not help her."

Actor John Cusack has asked a judge to issue a restraining order against a woman who he says has been stalking him.
In documents, filed June 23 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Cusack claims 31 year-old Emily Leatherman has been "showing unusual interest [in him] by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside, making unannounced visits to offices of people I work with in an attempt to meet with me and listing my address as her own during a recent arrest. Mail addressed to her has been arriving at my residence without my permission. I have never met this person." The documents also say Leatherman "threatens to commit acts of violence against herself if I do not help her."
According to the documents, Leatherman is a transient with no known address.

(Mar. 5 10:30AM ET) -- It's hook-up time in Hollywood and TMZ has the hottest couples news.
'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest has been linked with Playboy pin-up Lauren Michelle Hill.
But TMZ got this shot of Ryan with another blonde at The Ivy at the Shore in Santa Monica. An onlooker tells TMZ: "Ryan and the woman got into an argument inside the restaurant but they seemed to patch things up." The picture, however, doesn't look like all is hunky dory.

Meanwhile, John Cusack seems to be playing "cat and mouse" with both Lisa Bonet and Oscar winner Marisa Tomei.
This photo was also taken at The Ivy at the Shore. The mystery here -- exactly who is John with? The three walked out together, but onlookers say that inside the restaurant John and Lisa seemed pretty chummy, though John turned away from Bonet when he saw the photographers.
And it was "hook-up city" at the trendy Soho House LA this week during an ultra-exclusive pre-Oscars party.
