The economy sucks, people are struggling to make ends meet -- and Laura Dern is paying double so someone else can pump her petrol in Brentwood. 
While the cost of self-service gas hovers just below $2 in California, Dern paid at least an additional $2, plus tip, to have someone else pump it and wash her windows at the full service station.
That "Jurassic Park" money has one helluva life span.

There are times when a TMZ photog comes to a celebrity crossroads, and last night found us at a difficult fork -- to follow former Laker James Worthy or comedian Richard Lewis. Too many choices!
Also in L.A: Nicolas Cage, Ben Harper and Laura Dern drove 55 to see Van Halen, Jennie Garth got mocked after being booted from "DWTS," and Mr. Belding explained what he did with Brooke Hogan on his birthday.

Courteney Cox was relieved to have her 'friends' handy when paparazzi caught her looking like "Dirt" at lunch this weekend.
Dining with sister-in-law Rosanna Arquette and pals Laura Dern and Ben Harper at Patrick's Roadhouse in Santa Monica, Courteney saw the paparazzi and freaked -- taking refuge behind a magazine and saying, "I look worse than I've ever looked, sorry guys!"
After a three-way powwow between Cox, Arquette and Dern, Rosanna scolded photographers, "Come on! you guys are so mean!"
Paps then told Courteney they liked her tabloid drama, "Dirt," and that got a sweet "thank you" from the makeupless star.

The friendship between Laura Dern and Jennifer Aniston is proof that some good can come from the relationship-killing Angelina virus!
The two jilted actresses have been spotted around town a lot lately and share this in common: Both saw their men run off with gorgeous Oscar-winner/Goodwill Ambassador, Angelia Jolie. Girls, interrupted!
Although you may have heard that Brad Pitt allegedly hooked up with Jolie before after breaking up with Aniston, in 2000, Dern was reportedly still dating Billy Bob Thornton when he suddenly married Angie. Snap! Dern has since had two children with her husband, singer Ben Harper, while Jen is single and childless.
At least she has her friends!
