One small step for maids, one giant leap for maidkind. A judge finally ordered Courtney Love to cough up cash to pay the help ... who she'd allegedly been stiffing for months.
Elite Maids filed a suit in Los Angeles Superior Court back in February to collect the several thousand dollars Love allegedly owed them for unpaid services.
When Courtney failed to show her face in court on Thursday, the judge ruled against the former Hole singer by default ... and ordered her to hand over the original sum plus fees -- totaling $3,058.48.
Now that's a lot of dusting.

Lisa Marie Presley is firing back at her former nanny -- the one who just sued her -- claiming the woman broke her contract by posting photos of Presley's twin babies on Facebook.
Presley countersued Christine White -- the nanny who claims she was forced to work ridiculous hours without getting OT.
Presley claims White snapped 164 photographs and shot video of her twins and her private residence ...then posted some of them on Facebook.
Presley alleges White flagrantly violated the confidentiality agreement she signed.
Forget White's OT ... Presley wants White to ante up for the damage she caused.

Kobe Bryant and his wife have filed legal papers, claiming they have the poop on the lawsuit their former housekeeper filed against them.
The housekeeper, Maria Jimenez, claims Kobe's wife Vanessa was incredibly abusive and disrespectful -- screaming and swearing at her, even forcing her to put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve a tag from her blouse.
In Kobe's docs, he and Vanessa say they paid the maid $50,000 a year, gave her time off, lavished her with gifts, yada yada.
The Bryants say the maid ate meals with them and when she asked for time off to visit her family in Peru, Vanessa gave her a paid leave of absence.
Kobe's response to the lawsuit claims all the allegations the maid is making are false, that she wasn't wrongfully fired, and the notion that her privacy was violated because of home security cameras is ridiculous -- the maid knew cameras were rolling.

As Kobe Bryant is poised to win an NBA title, his attorneys are gunning for a legal victory that would prevent his former maid from blabbing to the media.
Kobe and his wife are locked in a legal battle with Maria Jimenez -- who just filed papers essentially asking for the green light so she can spill secrets about the Bryants to the media ... despite the fact she signed a confidentiality agreement with them when she was hired.
Jimenez is suing the Bryants, claiming Kobe's wife Vanessa was abusive, even ordering her to dig deep into dog poop.
But Kobe's attorney tells us Jimenez is dreaming if she thinks the confidentiality agreement isn't binding. Attorney Doug Mirell says the agreement is solid as a rock.

Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa have filed a cross-complaint against their former maid -- but all they really want is for her to keep her mouth shut.
According to court docs filed yesterday, the Bryants fully acknowledge Maria Jimenez's right to battle them in court -- although they say her claims of abuse are "without merit." What the Bryants are really concerned with is the confidentiality agreement they claim Jimenez signed when she was hired in 2007 -- which prevents her from talking to the press and other third parties.
The Bryants feel, according to the docs, that Jimenez's press tour following her lawsuit is in violation of that agreement.
Jimenez is suing the Bryants, specifically claiming Vanessa was incredibly abusive -- even demanding that she put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve a tag from her blouse
They are all due back in court in July.
UPDATE: William Vogeler, potential Kobe-stopper and lawyer for Maria Jimenez has just released an exclusive statement to TMZ.
"The Bryants claim that they treated Maria Jimenez with the utmost respect, yet they want to silence her from talking about it. Fortunately, my client has a First Amendment right to talk about how they treated her.
Ultimately, a judge and jury will decide what really happened in the Bryant's home, And the last time I checked, the court is open to the public."

Remember the maid who claims Kobe's wife, Vanessa Bryant, was a super-bitch to her, allegedly ordering her to root around a poop-filled trash -- well the State board that handles unemployment claims has just ruled the maid is entitled to collect unemployment insurance.
The Bryant's allegedly forced the lady to quit, then tried to block her from collecting unemployment. They have denied the maid's claims, which include badgering, harassing and humiliating her.
The Unemployment Board concluded the maid "voluntarily left the employment because her immediate supervisor [Vanessa] repeatedly addressed her in a disrespectful and assaulting tone, and required her to perform tasks that were repugnant and demeaning."
The final straw -- the maid ruined a blouse by throwing it in the wash, and Vanessa allegedly made her go in a poop-laden trash can to find the receipt so Vanessa could deduct that amount from her paycheck. That's steamy cold!
UPDATE: Kobe Bryant's lawyer has issued an appeal to the Unemployment board, disputing all allegations and claiming the Bryant's maid quit for her own personal reasons, and not because she was mistreated.

Victoria Principal has just filed a lawsuit, admitting she did pull a gun on her former maid, but only after the maid threatened her, injured her dog and went on a wild tear.
The maid, Maribel Banegas, sued Principal yesterday, over the whole gun thing. But in Principal's lawsuit, the actress says on December 26, 2008, the maid was told she was fired and flew into a rage and "repeatedly slammed the back door with such force that...the door frame itself was damaged."
The suit claims the maid struck and injured another maid in the house, then grabbed Victoria's small dog and left the house.
An hour later, Victoria called the maid on the cell phone, demanding the return of the dog. A short time later, the large maid (6 feet tall, 160ish) returned "dragging Principal's dog into the kitchen on such a taunt [sic] leash that the dog's front paws were lifted off the ground and so roughly that the dog was coughing and wheezing and its eyes bulging."
The suit claims the maid was screaming, "Give me money."

Robert De Niro's former nanny is raging pissed -- claiming the actor stiffed her out of $40k in overtime pay and then fired her.
The nanny claims she racked up 750 hours of O.T. in just ten months of work for Robert and his wife back in 2006, and when she threatened to quit -- De Niro pulled the trigger first.
Now the nanny has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan's state Supreme Court, in which she also claims she never got her 10 days of vacation.
No comment from De Niro's people yet.

Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa are being sued by their former housekeeper, who claims Vanessa was incredibly abusive -- even demanding that she put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve a tag from her blouse ... so Vanessa could deduct the cost of the blouse from the maid's salary!
Maria Jimenez claims Vanessa called her "lazy, slow, dumb, a f---ing liar, and f---ing sh-t."
In the lawsuit filed in Superior Court in Orange County, Jimenez claims Vanessa accused her of stealing her (mouth) retainer.
Jimenez says it got so bad -- Vanessa allegedly "badgered, harassed and humiliated Maria by yelling and screaming at Maria and criticizing her in front of Kobe, the Bryants' children, employees and other people in the household" -- she threatened to quit but Kobe talked her out of it.
The final straw: Vanessa went nuclear because Maria put an expensive blouse in the washer. Vanessa demanded that Maria put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve the price tag for the blouse.
Maria says she wanted to quit and Vanessa responded that she "had to work until payday to pay for the $690 blouse, which she did."
Maria is suing for wrongful discharge, invasion of privacy and emotional distress and unpaid wages.

Clad in a naughty chambermaid outfit, Jessica Simpson flaunted her figure on the set of her hew movie, "Blonde Ambition" yesterday.
Even though she looks ready to sling beer at Oktoberfest, Simpson is playing a struggling secretary on an unconventional journey through the corporate world.
After "Employee of the Month," we're not sure that Jessica should clear a space on her mantle for anything other than a beer mug.

Salma Hayek stunned her Latin American audience when she left her role on "Teresa," a highly rated telenovela, to move to Hollywood 15 years ago. Unfortunately back then, as Salma found out, most Hollywood roles for Latin women were prostitutes, waitresses or maids. Thankfully that's no longer the case.
With the premiere of "Ugly Betty," an American take on the Colombian show "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea" on Thursday night, it seems Salma may have had the last laugh. As the executive producer of the critically acclaimed show, Salma could have easily have had a cameo as a model or high-powered fashion executive. Instead, she decided to go back to her roots and maybe take a dig at the Hollywood casting agents who typecast her so long ago.
Salma plays a maid on a telenovela that is on constantly in Betty's house. Hayek's on tv overacting proves the highly accomplished actress can still poke fun at herself and at the industry.
TMZ hopes Ms. Hayek continues her telenovela role -- it's our favorite part of the show.
