Is it 1987 all over again? Because the pap frenzy surrounding Michael Bolton as he left the Ivy yesterday would explain his newfound popularity.
Aside from cutting off his mullet -- getting engaged to Nicollette Sheridan was the best career move he's ever made.
"Desperate Housewives" biyatch Nicollette Sheridan and her raspy singin' BF Michael Bolton were giving it a rest in St. Bart's -- in color-coordinated Christmas bathing suits. Oh, how precious. 
Another week and they'll be back to work -- dining at the Ivy.

Ben Affleck's baby mama, Jennifer Garner, gave fans a fast-forward autograph spree after her "Cyrano de Bergerac" performance -- signing what she could before flashing her signature childlike smile for fans. 35 going on 13!
Also in New York: "Little Miss Sunshine" herself, Abigail Breslin, gave up her Halloween outfit idea, and Peter Sarsgaard roamed the streets in what could have passed for a costume. Nice leatha' pants, Sahs-gahd!
In L.A: A reblondered Lindsay Lohan hit up the Beverly Center, camera-shy Jessica Alba and Cash Warren dined at Orso, and Brooke Burke, Eric Balfour and Slash attended the Guitar Hero 3 launch party on the roof of Best Buy.

The paps were loving Mr. Chow hounds Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton -- but Nicky wasn't exactly feelin' all the attention.
TMZ was outside the swank eatery last night as the "Desperate Housewife" and her crooning fiance left the restaurant in a snapstorm. Sheridan quickly locked herself into the safety of their car, but Bolton stopped to pose for pictures and sign autographs for the crowd!
Bolton finally got into the car, but Sheridan wasn't done hiding -- she kept pulling down the visors to block flashing paps.

The "Beautiful Liar" was seen departing Koi in Los Angeles over the weekend, and while most fans were happily shouting and waving to Shaki, one fan was heard yelling, "I requested you on MySpace, but you denied me!" This crazy isn't going into her Top 8!
At the LG house in Malibu, Jamie Foxx was seen taking charge of a microphone (again), and laying down the law for some poor individual. That's not relaxed beachside behavior!
A very taut looking Nicollette Sheridan and beau Michael Bolton were spotted at Nobu in Malibu. Across town at the Henry Fonda Theater, America Ferrera snubbed photogs but showed some love to fans by stopping to sign autographs. Betty's actually a hottie!
Hilary Duff was seen hiding low in the passenger seat while leaving Les Deux, but occasionally gave paps some sly sideways poses ... sneaky Lizzie McGuire!

Butt-Head, that ever wise pop culture commentator, once said that Michael Bolton "could probably make any kind of music suck." I'm certainly not going to argue with that. After murdering various soul classics over the years, Michael now has his eye on a new genre: opera. Yes, the man the Isley Brothers probably sued for crimes of the ear more than for the copyright violations they cited in their lawsuit, is looking to become the Pavarotti of Pop. He's recorded his favorite arias and is now threatening to unleash the results on the public.
It won't be the first time Michael tried to stretch himself (or at least his pants). Remember when he tried to be Bon Jovi? I forgot too ... my apologies for reminding you. If you're adventurous, the DVD "Michael Bolton: My Secret Passion" hits stores January 30.

As celebs partied in the streets of Miami and New York, a select group of A-listers opted for una noche in a Mexican paradise.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Sheryl Crow, Nicolette Sheridan with Michael Bolton, Adam Sandler and others rang in the new year at hotspot Mi Casa in Cabo San Lucas.
It's not known if the south of the border party was planned to take Jen's mind off her split with Vince, or if Cabo is simply the new place to be. ¡Buen año nuevo!

Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton were swarmed by photogs yesterday, which begged the question, who actually cares about them to warrant such attention?
After shopping at the new kitson Men store (sure to be a new paparazzi staple), the two emerged in "shock" at the number of photogs waiting for them, Nicollette exclaiming, "Oh my God, you guys are multiplying!"
The entourage of shutterbugs got so large they appeared to form a parade around the couple as they walked down Roberston Blvd., in the middle of the actual street.
While we understand a few shots of the happy couple may be worth some money, is it really necessary to form a moving wall in front of them, taking their picture for a good 10 minutes? Are there really that many Michael Bolton fans still? We think not.

Michael Bolton isn't the most relevant celebrity around, something even more apparent last night after photogs swarmed his fiancé and left him in the dust.
After dining at Mr. Chow, Bolton and Nicollette Sheridan were greeted by a group of autograph hunters who went straight for the "Desperate Housewives" diva. While Nicollette signed away, the now mullet-less crooner stood patiently waiting outside the car with his shirt ridiculously unbuttoned.
Guess that guest stint on "Celebrity Duets" paired with Lea Thompson didn't send his worth on the street sky-rocketing.
