Morgan Freeman All Square with Crash Victim

morgan freeman The beef between Morgan Freeman and the woman who sued him over a 2008 car crash is officially over.

Court records show a settlement was reached between Freeman and Demaris Meyer -- the lady who was riding with Freeman when she says he lost control of the vehicle and crashed it on a Mississippi highway. Meyer also claimed Freeman had been drinking before he got behind the wheel.

The car flipped multiple times during the accident -- Freeman suffered severe injuries while Miller suffered two broken bones and numerous bruises and lacerations.

The terms of the settlement were not released ... Freeman's lawyer simply said, "We're all glad it's over with."

Morgan's "Friend" -- He Was Drinking Before Crash

Morgan's FreemanThe woman who was injured in a car crash with Morgan Freeman last year claims the actor was boozing all over town before he got behind the wheel.

According to a lawsuit filed today in Mississippi federal court, Demaris Meyer claims on the night of the crash, she first met up with Freeman at dinner -- where she noticed "throughout the course of dinner and afterward drinks were consumed by Freeman."

Meyer then says she left dinner and met up with Freeman and others at a friend's home. She claims Freeman "had at least one more drink" while there. She claims Freeman then invited her to stay at his home for the night -- guaranteeing her not only her own bedroom, but her "own house." She says she agreed.

Meyer claims at around 11:30 PM, while Freeman drove her to his home, Morgan lost control of the car and "ran off of the right side of the highway." Meyer says she suffered a broken left wrist and right scapula, a torn labrum in her right shoulder and numerous bruises and lacerations.

At a press conference today, Meyer said she and Freeman were "just friends" -- despite widespread rumors that she was his mistress.

Meyer is suing for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, permanent disability (short term memory loss) and additional damages.

In the press release (of course Gloria issued a press release), Allred claims she will also display "never before seen graphic and disturbing photos of the car in which the actor and the woman were riding will be displayed."

Check back at noon PT for the live press conference -- we're gonna live stream the whole thing.

This Week's Biggest Losers 11/04/06

Today's Z-lister may well be tomorrow's gold standard. Just ask Mel Gibson and Kate Moss, who were honored this week, respectively, by the Latin Business Association and British Fashion Awards.
princePrince: What's next? The Mirage poaching another famous Jehovah's Witness to resurrect its one-time marquee attraction as "Siegfried and Michael"? At the very least, Prince may need to adopt "???" as his new symbol. The idea that the diminutive 48-year-old pop star will, starting next weekend, be headlining as a Friday-Saturday Vegas regular at the all-suites Rio Hotel and Casino is about as logical as Marilyn Manson happily taking part in an episode of Trading Spaces. And if you're planning on shouting out a request for "Dirty Mind" classics like "Sister" (about incest) or "Head" (about... you know), save your money for the "When Doves Cry" slots.

Morgan Freeman to Get Spencer Tracy Award

Actor to be honored Mar. 7

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

(Feb. 22) -- Morgan Freeman will be honored with UCLA's Spencer Tracy Award, which recognizes outstanding screen performances and professional achievement.

Jason Kaminsky, UCLA campus events commissioner, made the announcement Tuesday. An awards ceremony is scheduled for March 7.

"It was said that Spencer Tracy's natural style set him apart from actors of his time and set performance standards for future generations," Kaminsky said. "We think that the same can be said for the acting of Mr. Freeman."

Freeman won an Oscar for his role helping Clint Eastwood toughen up a woman boxer in "Million Dollar Baby" and has received Oscar nominations for roles in "Street Smart," "Driving Miss Daisy" and "The Shawshank Redemption."

The Tracy Award ceremony will include a video retrospective of Freeman's career, including his newest film, "Lucky Number Slevin," which co-stars Ben Kingsley, Bruce Willis and Josh Hartnett.

"Spencer Tracy is known by many as one of the finest actors in film history," Freeman said. "Receiving this award is truly an honor."

Previous Tracy Award recipients include Jimmy Stewart, Michael Douglas, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks and Anthony Hopkins.

Morgan Freeman Criticizes Black History Month

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW YORK -- Morgan Freeman says the concept of a month dedicated to black history is "ridiculous."

"You're going to relegate my history to a month?" the 68-year-old actor says in an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" to air Sunday (7 p.m. EST). "I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history."

Black History Month has roots in historian Carter G. Woodson's Negro History Week, which he designated in 1926 as the second week in February to mark the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.

Woodson said he hoped the week could one day be eliminated -- when black history would become fundamental to American history.

Freeman notes there is no "white history month," and says the only way to get rid of racism is to "stop talking about it."

The actor says he believes the labels "black" and "white" are an obstacle to beating racism.

"I am going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man," Freeman says.

Freeman received Oscar nominations for his roles in 1987's 'Street Smart,' 1989's 'Driving Miss Daisy' and 1994's 'The Shawshank Redemption.' He finally won earlier this year for 'Million Dollar Baby.'
