Plaxico Burress -- Smells Like Fishkill

TMZ has learned where Plaxico Burress is expected to serve part of his 2-year prison sentence -- a place more than 100 years old.

Plaxico is currently in the Manhattan Detention Complex, but Plaxcico's lawyer, Ben Brafman, tells us Plax is expected to be shipped to the famous Rikers Island correctional facility and then quickly moved to the Fishkill Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

We're told Plaxico will spend a total of 4-6 weeks going through the Rikers and Fishkill systems -- while authorities determine where Plaxico will spend the bulk of his sentence.

FYI -- Fishkill, which was constructed in 1896, was originally used as a hospital for the criminally insane.

Burress -- who was surrounded by his wife, son and father -- was immediately taken into custody following the hearing which happened just moments ago in New York.

Right after Plax heard his sentence, the 32-year-old NFL star hugged his wife and cradled his son. It was during this emotional moment that Plax began to tear up. The other members of Plaxico's family also began to cry in the courtroom.

Moments later, Plaxico stood up and made a statement in front of the judge saying, "I apologize to my family ... I thank everyone for their support."

Plaxico then walked from the courtroom into a holding area. He was never placed in handcuffs while inside the courtroom.

Plax accidentally shot himself in the leg in a NYC nightclub back in November 2008.

The gun was unlicensed and no one initially called police.

Jailed Giant Cut Loose -- No Daylight Yet

Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw is out of the grasp of the law, but he still might get tackled by the NFL for a probation violation.

Bradshaw was let out of the Abingdon, Va. Regional Jail on Sunday after a 30-day sentence, but the league is still reviewing why he ended up there in the first place -- and might suspend him as a result. We reported that his pokey time could be the result of an infraction from his juvenile years.

Local authorities wouldn't reveal why he had been thrown in the slammer.

Giants Running Back Behind Bars

NY Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw has been cooling his heels in a Virginia jail since Sunday for a probation violation.

A jail spokesperson told the Bristol Herald Courier that Bradshaw "voluntarily came into jail" because of a court order and "wasn't brought in by police officers and stuff."

We're told the probation violation comes stems from an arrest from when he was a juvenile -- and that file is sealed.

In a statement, the Giants said: "We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Ahmad's legal representative. This situation is not the result of any recent incident. It stems from an issue that occurred prior to Ahmad being drafted by the Giants. Beyond that, we have no further comment."

UPDATE: His lawyer tells TMZ Bradshaw is serving 30 days for a probation violaton, adding Bradshaw "has not been charged with any offense since being drafted by the New York Giants and is eager to put this matter behind him and begin training for next season."
