Ne-Yo -- Real Men Cry Like Babies

Ne-Yo is desperately defending his manhood after video surfaced of him crying his eyes out at his Manchester concert on Wednesday -- telling all the nasty bloggers who made fun of him to "go to hell."

Ne-Yo: Click to watch
Ne-Yo ended up walking off stage after the break down, canceling the rest of the concert due to an "illness." Here are the highlights from his blog on Global Grind:

"Basically, I have an issue with not knowing when to say enough is enough, so last night in Manchester, my body said it for me. I've never had to stop a show ... I cried harder than I have in a very long time with no shame whatsoever.

To anyone out there that would like to question my manhood because of this I'll say this to you: If the one thing you cared about more than anything else in the world was threatened or even taken from you ... and this didn't spark some kind of emotional outbreak within you ... then with no shame I'll say you are truly a stronger man than I.

And to the bloggers....go to hell.

Wacko Jacko Could Kick Ne-Yo to the Curb

Forget east coast, west coast beef -- Michael Jackson may be about to school Ne-Yo on pop star seniority.

jacko: exclusive details

MJ just announced ten tour dates at the O2 arena in London -- but there's a huge problem. Ne-Yo is scheduled to perform on one of the same nights -- and he's not planning to budge. Ne-Yo's rep tells us, "There is currently no change whatsoever to Ne-Yo's performance at the O2 arena in July ... the show is going on as planned."

Jackson's tickets are set to go on sale to the public March 13 and they're surprisingly affordable -- ranging from $70-105, plus booking fees. Sources tell us that MJ's shows could expand to over twenty-plus shows depending on demand.

In other words, Ne-Yo should expect to have his concert sometime in September.

Ne-Yo No-Show Suit

NE-YOHappening hot spot Bellevue, Wa. was supposed to be the scene for a big New Year's Eve shindig hosted by Ne-Yo. And it probably would have been awesome ... if only he showed up.

According to a lawsuit filed last week in Maryland, Wet Entertainment booked Ne-Yo for the NYE gig and paid him $95,000 up front. The organizers claim they made all sorts of arrangements for the show -- promotion, travel, hotel, etc.

They claim Ne-Yo's people made it to Washington -- but no Ne-Yo. The show was 86'd.

Wet is suing Ne-Yo and the booking company that made the deal for the $95K plus more than $1 mil in damages.

The booking company had no comment. A call to Ne-Yo's agent was not returned.

R. Kelly to Ne-Yo -- Don't Pee on My Parade!

Fast-rising R&B star Ne-Yo is just so sick that R. Kelly tossed him from his tour, he's suing Kelly's promoter, alleging that they kicked him off the tour because he was getting more love from the fans than the main attraction. Yo ho!
Ne-Yo
In the lawsuit, filed in L.A. Superior Court against Rowe Entertainment of Atlanta, Ne-Yo (real name: Shaffer Smith) alleges that an "unknown representative of R. Kelly urged Rowe to terminate" him because of the "audience's and critics' more favorable reaction to Smith than the reaction to R. Kelly."

When Ne-Yo was dropped from the tour just before Thanksgiving, "contractual differences" were cited. Real crazy talk! Ne-Yo, who was set to make $785,000 for 25 dates, says he's only been paid $50K of that, and he's suing for that and for other compensatory damages.

Reps for Rowe didn't return a request for comment.

UPDATE: R. Kelly's spokesman, Allan Mayer, said, "The idea that R. Kelly had anything to do with Ne-Yo being dropped from the Double Up tour is just plain silly. As we said at the time, Ne-Yo was dropped because of a contractual dispute with the tour promoter, and in fact Ne-Yo is not suing Kelly but only the promoter. Ne-Yo may think blaming the situation on R. Kelly will improve his chances of collecting from the promoter, but if he does, he is sadly mistaken. Anyone remotely familiar with R. Kelly knows heis confident enough in his own abilities to be happy to share the stage with enormously talented people -- the more talented, the better."

R. Kelly Says Ne-Yo Gotta Go

"Trapped in the Closet" brainchild R. Kelly recently peed on Ne-Yo's parade -- tossing him off his tour after just two gigs. Not so irreplaceable after all!

Now, Ne-Yo's finally breaking his silence about the situation -- kinda.

R. Kelly Boots Ne-Yo from Tour

More drama unfolds with R. Kelly as R&B singer Ne-Yo was suddenly removed from Kelly's latest tour. Kelly's camp cited the lack of a signed contract as the reason for Ne-Yo getting dumped.

Ne-Yo's camp issued a press release about the incident earlier this week, saying Ne-Yo "expressed genuine concern regarding not having the opportunity to complete the tour."

Kelly has been known to have tour trouble. In 2004, he and Jay-Z's conjoined tour came to a halt after Kelly was blasted with pepper spray by a member of Jay-Z's entourage. Jay later said that R. Kelly was a weepy, emotional wreck, prone to crying fits during the duration of their tour. Just recently, Kelly's longtime publicist resigned, citing serious "lines being crossed" as the cause of the split. Somebody is a straight-up diva -- and it ain't Ne-Yo!

Ne-Yo Butters-Up Hayden Panettiere

She's recently been linked to "Heroes" co-star Milo Ventimiglia -- but Hayden Panettiere was spotted partying with singer/songwriter Ne-Yo last night in NYC.

Hayden and Ne-Yo were caught leaving Butter together, and even ended up going back to the same hotel. Coincidence?

The pairing isn't completely random though -- the two have been working together to promote World Children's Day to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Ne-Yo: R&B Pimpin' Ain't Easy!

Ladies' man and R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo walked out of Opera last night with several pretty girls on his arm, and decided to please them all at once -- by buying every last rose from the neighborhood flower lady! He made her day too! He's a multi-taskin' baller!

While the starry-eyed singer was buying roses, he was bombarded with people wanting to sell him CDs and take his picture. Ne-Yo remained the quintessential gentleman, not only buying what people were selling, but posing for some pix as well.

Must be tough to be in a bad mood when you're surrounded by model chicks.

Ne-Yo Puts Britney on Blast

This morning on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo discussed what occurred in his failed working relationship with Britney Spears. Brit still works?
Ne-yo: Click to hear!
Ne-Yo explained that he wrote 6 to 8 songs intended for Spears, which she loved, but once she shaved her head and went into rehab, all contact was lost as Britz didn't return calls. In the meantime, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger listened to the songs and purchased two of them. That's what we call a "jack move," folks! Ne-Yo now claims Brit-Brit is a little upset -- because he sold Nicole songs intended for her. Ya snooze, ya lose y'all!

Ne-Yo remained a gentleman during the entire interview and didn't take a few golden opportunities to trash the pop wreck -- even suggesting that a comeback is possible if she can separate her private and professional lives. No kidding!

Ne-Yo Takes It on His Cheeks

Although rumors regarding his sexual orientation have bugged R&B sensation Ne-Yo, TMZ has obtained video footage of the singer getting quite comfortable with a mystery woman on a beach in Barbados.

The two frolicked -- and sometimes just licked. Only thing is, on careful inspection, every time the girl goes in for the kill, she's only given a cheek to peck. What's up with that?

Jay-Z Celebrates Ne-Yo's Chart-Topping Success, Talks Nas Album

Collaboration between the former rivals is possible

By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY, AP MUSIC WRITER

(Mar. 8) -- Ne-Yo isn't the only one celebrating his No. 1 debut on the album charts.

Shawn Carter -- better known as Jay-Z and the president of Def Jam Records -- is also taking pride in Ne-Yo's chart-topping success. Jay-Z was a producer on the singer-songwriter's album, "In My Own Words," which debuted on the charts this week at the top with approximately 301,000 copies sold.

"He's naturally talented. Anytime when that happens, and talent wins, it's an honest blow for the music business," Jay-Z told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "It's a beautiful thing."

This is not Ne-Yo's first time on top of the charts. The 22-year-old wrote last year's No. 1 smash "Let Me Love You," except it wasn't sung by him, but by Mario. This time around, he has his own hit with "So Sick."

Jay-Z said Ne-Yo's songwriting ability "separates him from everyone else. He can sing, he can dance, he has the whole package, but on top of that, he's an excellent songwriter."

The semiretired rapper said his role on the album was to act like an editor: "My thing was to keep the album short and sweet. When an artist has his first album, they tend to want to put 21 songs on there."

Ne-Yo, Jay-Z said, was open to constructive criticism. "He doesn't take it personally. He'll just go in and do it. We took songs off the album and he had no problem with it."

Jay-Z will be taking on the editor role again with upcoming Def Jam projects, including the highly anticipated debut of Nas, his former nemesis, on the label. Jay-Z, who ended his longtime feud with Nas in a concert last year, struck a deal with the Columbia Records-label rapper to have Def Jam release his next records.

Jay-Z said Nas, considered one of the most gifted rappers, has suffered from a lack of direction at Columbia.

"I don't want to sound disrespectful to Columbia, but I don't think there was no one in there who had true respect to work with him on his albums," Jay-Z said. "I think he was just doing everything on his own, and it's hard to hear everything on your own."

He predicted Nas' debut on Def Jam, due in the fall, would be huge, and hinted he may make a guest appearance on the album as well.

"We'll figure it out. I don't want to do a song just to do it," he said.
