Jake Gyllenhaal might be able to avoid being seen with Reese Witherspoon, but that doesn't mean he can skirt questions about her, too!
The "Brokeback" star was signing autographs after taping an appearance on Letterman yesterday, but when fans only wanted the dish on him and Reese, Jake's answer was just a funny face. Celebrity sneer campaign!
Meanwhile, it isn't often that 76-year-old Regis Philbin meets a fan on the street that makes him look like the young one. But lo and behold, Reege encountered a woman who not only remembers a time when Regis wasn't on TV -- she remembers when there was no TV!
In L.A., Bai Ling looked electric in a dress suitable for driving the Mars rover, Laverne and Shirley (yes, the actual Laverne and Shirley), and you'll never guess which funnyman our photog had to give directions to!
All this and more in todays "schlemiel, schlemazel" edition of Star Catcher!

License plate-swiping "The Mask" star Peter Greene was at Les Deux on Saturday -- and TMZ almost didn't recognize him without his ski mask on!
When our photog approached Greene and asked him about getting caught red-handed on surveillance video, he told us "Seriously buddy, get real." One of his goonish buddies then got pushy with our camera -- and stopped our guy from asking any other questions.

Bring out the cuffs: Peter Greene, the actor who so memorably rogered Ving Rhames in "Pulp Fiction," got popped Monday in New York for allegedly buying crack -- in broad daylight!
Sources tell TMZ that Greene was "observed" buying two bags of crack cocaine in a hand-to-hand deal in Manhattan's Alphabet City around 5:50 PM on Tuesday. What's more, the arrest report says that a police officer recovered "two plastic bags ... from defendant's front jeans pocket." Greene was arraigned, spent Tuesday night in jail, and plead guilty to criminal possession yesterday. Today, he's a free man, having been sentenced to time served.
Apart from Zed, Greene also played Redfoot in "The Usual Suspects" and a corrupt narcotics officer in "Training Day." His arrest was first reported by the New York Daily News.
