It got real awkward real quick when Dave unleashed an impromptu interrogation on Anne Hathaway over her scumbag ex BF Raffaello Follieri last night -- but when she tried to weasel out of it by talking to Paul instead, he jumped on the bashing bandwagon too!

Last month, Follieri pled guilty to 14 counts of con-artistry, including posing as the Vatican's chief money man.

Anne Hathaway's Ex has Rx for Fraud

Anne Hathaway's federally-indicted ex, Raffaello Follieri, is involved in yet another scam. She does know how to pick them.

The Follieri Foundation's website claims it hands out discount drug cards for free to the needy. We called a bunch of Manhattan drugstores and asked if they knew about the Follieri cards -- total silence. Oh, BTW, the company that partners with Follieri in the card project doesn't exist anymore.

Calls to the Follieri Group yielded a busy signal despite repeated attempts. The New York Attorney General's office wouldn't comment on its ongoing investigation of the Zach Braff-alike, who's waiting to make his $21 mil bail.

And today, in another crazy twist to this story, Follieri was transported to the hospital suffering from what his rep said was a severe sinus infection.

Anne's Ex Says Pasta La Vista to Freedom

Anne Hathaway's sketchy Italian ex won't be doing the Waverly Inn anytime soon -- the Feds just set his bail at $21 million, yes, million, and he'll be on house arrest even when he does make bail.

We were in the courtroom as Raffaello Follieri was arraigned and charged with six counts of wire fraud and five counts of money laundering. He'll have to pony up $21 mil before he can even go home -- and have to have five co-signers. The Feds also said that Follieri "tested positive" for opiates during a routine drug test.

Once Rafoolio gets out of custody, he'll be home-restricted by an electronic monitoring device and will only be let out for legal, medical, and religious reasons, and only on the island of Manhattan. He's due back on July 9th for a pre-trial hearing. Anne was not present at the hearing.

Anne H's Ex is Going to Hell ... and Maybe Jail Too

Good thing Anne Hathaway got real smart and recently cut bait on her Italian BF -- now he's been arrested on federal wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering charges for claiming to be associated with the Pope!

Zach Braff-alike Raffaello Follieri is due in Manhattan Federal court on Tuesday, accused by the FBI of lying to an investor, saying he'd been appointed the chief financial officer of the Vatican. In the Fed's complaint, Anne is mentioned -- not by name, but as RaFo's "girlfriend" -- and as the beneficiary of some of his allegedly ill-gotten gains.

Cops say because people believed his faux Vatican connection, he was able to buy properties owned by the Catholic church in the U.S. at a way cheaper rate.
