Huge Suit Over Jackson, Stones, Guns & Doors

The company that hawks all things related to Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin and Red Hot Chili Peppers is demanding untold millions from the businesses that are illegally cashing in -- allegedly.

Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, Axl Rose, Jim Morrison

Bravado International Group claims it has the exclusive right to the merchandise of these huge musicians -- dead and alive. Bravado claims Dollar Days International, Alan Shrem and Kennedy-Shrem International are illegally using the names and likenesses of Michael Jackson, Jim Morrison and the other musical luminaries in the sale of shirts, watches, posters, play money and other stuff.

The suit -- filed in federal court in Los Angeles and obtained by TMZ -- makes specific mention of Jackson's most memorable works, including "Thriller" and "Bad."

And speaking of bad, Bravado wants $2 million for each violation.

Chilli Pepper: My Neighbor's a Bone Head!

He thought he was buying a nice Hawaiian hideaway, but Red Hot Chili Peppers front man Anthony Kiedis got a lot more than that -- in the form of a war over 800-year-old dead bodies!

Several angry protesters are lined up in front of the Pepper property in Kaua'i, but their beef ain't with Anthony -- it's with his next door neighbor. According to officials, the next door neighbor's plot is sitting on top of an ancient Hawaiian burial ground -- and now after getting a green light from the govt., Mr. neighbor guy is trying to build on top of the bodies.

Anthony's place has been deemed dead-body-free, but the protesters -- who have been there for 9 weeks -- have brought the fight to Anthony's door anyway, hoping to stop the construction one way or another.

So far, plans to build are still in place. Calls to Kiedis' reps went cold.

VMAs Set to Sizzle

Beyonce at VMA press conferenceIt's a battle between some peppers and a sizzling hip shaker for the most MTV Video Music Awards nominations.

Shakira and the Red Hot Chili Peppers lead the pack with a total of seven noms each. Madonna and Vegas rockers Panic! at the Disco each have five nominations and Christina Aguilera picked up four.

This year's winners will be determined a little differently from past shows. For the first time in VMA history, viewers can vote for their favorites in every category -- rather than just the viewer's choice.

The VMAs will air live from New York's Radio City Music Hall on August 31. Artists and groups already confirmed to perform include Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, T.I., Ludacris, The Killers and Panic! at the Disco.

Cameras caught up with Justin, Beyonce and T.I. as they each spoke about what it's like to perform at the VMAs.

Father Figure Flea

FleaRumors have been swirling on the Internet that Flea, bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is a less then stellar father to his daughter.

What apparently started said rumor was an interview Flea did with Key 103, a radio station out of Manchester, England. The host and Flea began talking about their children, and Flea mentioned how his daughter Sunny hit her head on a table and joked that he put her in the closet because she was crying. The joke escalated to rumor and the rumor populated the Internet.

With everyone looking for a reason to chastise celebrities for their child rearing abilities, maybe Flea should keep jokes about his fathering skills on the down low.

Hear Flea's interview.

Tom Petty Won't Sue Chili Peppers

By now anyone within earshot of a radio has heard the Red Hot Chili Peppers' song "Dani California." If you thought the song sounded like something you'd heard before, you weren't alone.   Apparently Tom Petty felt the song sounded very similar to his hit "Mary Jane's Last Dance," which was as famous for the video starring Kim Basinger.

Early reports had Petty mulling over a lawsuit.  But, in a recent chat with Rolling Stone, he says actually doesn't mind a little borrowing of his music:

"The truth is, I seriously doubt that there is any negative intent there. And a lot of rock & roll songs sound alike. Ask Chuck Berry. The Strokes took "American Girl" [for their song "Last Nite"], and I saw an interview with them where they actually admitted it. That made me laugh out loud. I was like, 'OK, good for you.' It doesn't bother me."

So, he's certainly not going to sue...this time:

"If someone took my song note for note and stole it maliciously, then maybe. But I don't believe in lawsuits much. I think there are enough frivolous lawsuits in this country without people fighting over pop songs."

See, not all rock stars are petty.
