Reese Witherspoon is more than happy to become the key witness in a case involving a vicious fight between two members of the paparazzi.
The whole thing started in Brentwood earlier today, when two pappers -- not ours -- were trying to get a shot of Reese after she finished exercising. Each wanted to get "the shot" and they began fighting. We're told it was intense.
The LAPD was called to the scene. Cops took a report and are investigating.
Law enforcement sources tell us Reese contacted the LAPD and identified herself as an eyewitness, saying the fight was brutal ... telling cops she would be "happy to cooperate" with any investigation or prosecution.

Reese Witherspoon is cruisin' for a bruisin' ... under her eye.
Jake Gyllenhaal's 33-year-old girlfriend was sportin' a bit of a shiner under her left eye in Brentwood yesterday.
Looks like "Just Like Heaven" is no longer the only black eye on her resume.
Update: Reese's rep tells us the injury occurred during softball practice for her latest film.

Jake and Reese are so damn rich, they're reportedly renting this boring, plain, cold London home for $5,900 bucks -- a week!!!
The (overpriced) house, isn't huge -- covering only about 1,996 square feet. It boasts three 3 dull bedrooms, 3 dull baths, a dull private terrace.
While J and R are just temporarily living there, the owners have put the pad on the market for a cool $4 mil.

Paps are used to walking on egg shells with certain celebrities -- not dodging them!
Jake Gyllenhaal celebrated his 28th birthday with Reese Witherspoon at Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica -- where the chef's food is nothing compared to his aim with an egg and truly nasty vocab.
Our favorite from Mr. Baldi: "Your mother is very bitch!"

Moms were all the rage this weekend in the Thirty Mile Zone -- and while Kim K shook her ass for hers at the Pussycat Doll Lounge in Vegas, Reese Witherspoon only wanted to know how our photog's mama was doin'.
Also -- John Mayer made it abundantly clear he broke up with Jen Aniston -- not the other way around -- and Mr. Olympia proved his gigantic size may be overcompensation for his tiny voice.

His gal pal Reese, on other hand, looked ready to indulge in some boxed wine and a game of bridge.

Reese and her gorgeous gimp hit up a newsstand in L.A. on Monday and were met by Phillippe's scowling eye on a magazine cover.

Returning home from a Mexican vacation, tantastic Jake Gyllenhaal hobbles after a charred Reese Witherspoon and her kids - then doesn't.
Looks like Jack Twist is about to get all Jack Nasty by finding a new use for those crutches - swinging them at a paparazzo's lens.
Reese's boytoy has been gimping around since getting hurt playing in a game of pick-up basketball.
