TMZ has learned that "Sopranos" star Robert Iler owned one of the units in the building damaged in today's massive crane collapse in NY.
Iler, who played A.J. Soprano on the hit show, was home at the time, felt the impact and heard people screaming. He quickly escaped the building without injury. Sources tell us the whole episode was "very traumatic" for the young star as he saw all the devastation first hand. Iler has lived in the building several years. His apartment was not affected.
The 200-foot crane collapsed on Manhattan's Upper East Side, where the 32-story luxury condo complex was under construction. Two workers were killed and one was seriously injured.
This is the second such crane collapse in nearly three months.

A.J. Soprano, aka Robert Iler, was in a giving mood outside Villa -- handing off the SAG Award he won to one of TMZ's photogs! Thank you!
Iler did end up taking the trophy home ... good thing, too -- wouldn't want to owe any favors to a Soprano.

Royal flush! An illegal New York poker den frequented by "Sopranos" bad boy Robert Iler and several NBA players was robbed yesterday. According to the New York Daily News, the gun-toting bandits burst into the Upper East Side spot at around midnight and ordered the club's 70 or so patrons to hand over their money.
While the cops haven't caught the bandits, they did arrest club owner Edgar Concepcion and charged him with promoting gambling and possessing bookmaking supplies. Police estimate that around $50,000 in cash was taken. Where's Tony Soprano when you need him?

Jamie-Lynn Sigler was spotted in Sin City, getting curiously close to her small screen bro, Robert Iler.
"Sopranos" siblings Meadow and A.J. Soprano were hanging out at PURE nightclub in Caesars Palace late Saturday night, celebrating the final season of the HBO show. The two were seated next to each other in the club's VIP lounge, laughing while engaged in close conversation.
Sigler and Iler were later joined by K-Fed and Marlon & Damon Wayans -- talk about a random crew!

The final season of "The Sopranos" is setting up to be one of the most anticipated television experiences of the coming year. After an ankle injury for James Gandolfini, the premiere was pushed from its original date of January 2007 to sometime in March. But never fear -- it now appears that production is full swing.
Paparazzi caught up with the "Sopranos" cast on set yesterday in Queens, NY. Fat Joe, who recently added a collaboration with Paris Hilton on her debut album to his resume, was also on set. It isn't clear whether or not he was just dropping by to get his pic taken with some of his favorite stars, or if he will be making a guest appearance in a few episodes. TMZ contacted HBO, and reps would not comment on Joe's presence on set. Our guess is that he will be making a cameo on the hit show, using his already mob-like persona for more than just music.
On another note, Robert Iler, who plays A.J. Soprano (Tony's son), was looking a lot rougher than he has in the past. His character, usually portrayed as a pansy, may be grooming himself to follow in his father's footsteps. The suit and the goatee say, "I'm working for Dad now!" Again, HBO opted not to comment to TMZ, so for now, that's just our theory.
