Tony Hawk Rolls Through the White House

Tony Hawk has some massive ball bearings -- dude was not only brave enough to mount his skateboard and shred the checkered tile of a White House hallway, he took photos of the daring act and then posted them on his Twitter page.

Take a good look, because these could be the last photos of Tony you'll ever see.

Prez Pup Coming to Obama White House Tuesday

ObamaWe have lots of exclusive details on the Portuguese Water Dog President Barack Obama and Michelle are getting for Sasha and Malia. The pooch will make its grand entrance on Tuesday, and it's coming from a prominent Texas kennel, with the help of Senator Ted Kennedy's family.

The black dog -- a male -- is approximately six months old. We've learned it was bred at the kennel and sold to someone who gave it back. The kennel is now "re-homing" the dog to the Obamas. The dog was named Charlie, but the Obamas will rename it.

Now here's where the Kennedys come into play. The kennel has sold the Kennedys three Portuguese Water Dogs in the past, all from the same lineage. The dog the Obamas will be getting is from the same lineage as the Kennedy dogs. The Kennedy family will be presenting the new dog to the Obamas, but it's really coming from the kennel.

The reason this all sounds so technical is that there are issues regarding gifts to the Prez. The fact that the pup is being re-homed makes it all kosher.

Michelle Obama -- Fashion Diva or Disaster?

Sweatergate 2009! Michelle Obama wore a sweater when she met with Queen Elizabeth II this week, and her wardrobe choice has kicked up major drama in the fashion world.

Obama

The First Lady often wears affordable American brand clothes to events, and apparently Oscar de la Renta isn't happy about it. He told Women's Wear Daily, "You don't...go to Buckingham Palace in a sweater."

But in this economy, if the First Lady wears clothes most Americans can afford -- isn't that a good thing?

Barack -- If At First You Don't Succeed ...

Barack Obama is the president of the United States. Finally.

After flubbing his oath during yesterday's inauguration -- thanks, Chief Justice John Roberts -- Obama retook the oath this afternoon at the White House. White House counsel Greg Craig said Obama took the oath from Roberts again out of an "abundance of caution."

In Barack's defense, people retake the SATs all the time!

Obama's New Decorator -- You Be the Judge

The White House private quarters will be gussied up by interior designer Michael Smith. The dude has decorated the homes of Steven Spielberg, Dustin Hoffman and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Smith is big into antiques that feel "airy and family friendly" -- whatever that means.

So look at the gallery and tell us....

Bush to Obama -- No Movin' on Up

Lame duck just got lamer: George Bush isn't letting Barack Obama move into DC ten days early, because his peeps have got to party.

The Obamas had asked the President if they could check in early at Blair House, the official guest residence across from the White House, starting on January 5, because the Obama girls are starting school. But Bush's people rejected the request on the grounds that "receptions and gatherings" are being held there and the house won't be available for them until ten days later.

The official Obama camp have said they're cool with it. Right. Laura Bush's spokeswoman says it's a "non-story."

Bush and the Beaver

President Bush, DugoutWith 202 days left in office, President Bush showed off his best "O face" yesterday at the White House where he hosted "Tee Ball on the South Lawn" with Little League mascot Dugout.

Honorary Commissioner Roberto Clemente, Jr. (center) was also there. Although his name isn't dirty, he was completely shaved.

White House Aides Love to Rock

Hopefully at least some of you have been paying attention to the lobbying scandal involving disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff and the White House. I know it's nowhere as hip as who's hanging at Hyde, but it is just as sleazy (although maybe not as sleazy as a Congressmen emailing 16 year old boys). Turns out there is a music side note to the whole affair: concert tickets were a significant part of the gift giving Enterprise.

Composite of Bruce Springsteen and Bono above the Capital Building

Susan Ralston, personal aide to the infamous Karl Rove, who prior to that worked directly for Abramoff before moving to the White House, was a primary recipient of the tix. See reportedly saw nine different events on Abramoff's tab while working for Rove, including nabbing four seats for a Springsteen concert. Maybe she didn't know that Bruce campaigned against Bush and more than once used the word "impeach" when referring to the President? Or, maybe she's got no clue who Tom Joad is either? Beyond the Boss, seems Ralston is an Andrea Boccelli fan too - now that, along with former White House aide Jennifer Farley's reported request for Yanni tix from Abramoff associates, makes more sense!

Ken Melman, former White House Director of Political Affairs and a major player in President Bush's re-election campaign, was another White House wannabe hipster. He reportedly looked to Abramoff to get his U2 fix. Didn't he get to sit in on the Bush-Bono meetings? It seems the concerts were seen as a place to get these insiders in a good mood to talk "business." According to the official report issued by the House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform (can you say fox watching the hen house?), "when Abramoff learned from his staff that "Ken Mehlman of the White House apparently wants to go," but it was unclear if "we can fit 2 more in for Friday night," he instructed his staff: "We must." A day before the concert, [Lobbyist Kevin Ring] e-mailed Abramoff that he would "talk to Mehlman at the concert tomorrow night" about positions at the Department of Labor." Nice perks if you can get 'em!

With Bono droning on about helping the poor at every show, I'm sure someone at least thought to themselves, just "shut up and sing."

Clooney For President?

'EXTRA's' AJ Calloway spoke to George Clooney at this weekend's White House Correspondents Dinner.

The Oscar-winner, who was in Washington for a rally against the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan, laughed off speculation of a future in politics.
