Magician Busted for Disappearing from Court Date

Jonathan PendragonWorld famous magician Jonathan Pendragon probably really wanted to be at his arraignment in Ventura County on Thursday -- but considering he was in a medical facility on a mandatory hold, he had to miss it.

Pendragon was arrested last month for allegedly firing a bullet into the floor during a dispute with his wife. Fast-forward to last Sunday -- cops picked up Pendragon again, this time for trying to break into the family home, violating his wife's restraining order against him.

Law enforcement tells us when they showed up, Pendragon was in his full performance costume, threatening to kill himself. He was placed on a 5150 hold at a medical facility in Ventura County.

And he wasn't there when his arraignment came up, so he was arrested by Ventura County police for failure to appear.

Pendragon's next magic show might be the fellas down in cellblock B.

Howard K. Stern Arraignment Postponed

Howard K. Stern: Click to watch
Stern's lawyer, Steve Sadow, told the media after the arraignment that "[Howard] is innocent. Let me repeat that, he is innocent."

Sadow reiterated what we first reported -- Stern plans to fight these charges to the end, because he believes he did absolutely nothing wrong.

Howard K. Stern: Click to watchSadow excoriated California Attorney General Jerry Brown, saying he should be "ashamed of himself" for using Anna Nicole to further his career.

Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty

Chris Brown has just pled not guilty to two felonies -- assault and making criminal threats.

Chris Brown: Click to watch
With ex girlfriend Rihanna nowhere in sight, Brown showed up at L.A. County criminal courthouse to face the music for allegedly beating the crap out of her back in February.

Sources inside the courtroom say Chris' mom spent the entire preliminary hearing either in tears or praying for her 19-year-old son. We're told a handful of Chris' friends and four bodyguards were also there to show support.

Brown is due back in court on April 29.

Chris Brown -- Let's Make a Deal

Chris BrownChris Brown's lawyer and the prosecutor in the Rihanna case have been engaged in "serious" plea bargain negotiations and according to one source, a "deal is close."

We know Brown will plead not guilty today, however the plea may just be a formality.

Sources say Rihanna has made it clear she does not want to testify in the case and wants Brown to cop a plea. We're told one of the reasons she's in Barbados right now is because "she wants to be as far away from this case as possible."

As we first reported, Brown was inclined to plead either guilty or no contest to a misdemeanor, provided he got no jail time -- but since we broke that story, the D.A. and Mark Geragos, Brown's lawyer, have gotten down to the nitty gritty.

We do not know if Brown changed his view and would accept jail time to avoid a trial. Brown will be in court today for the arraignment.

Rihanna Wants Right to Remain Silent ... in Court

RihannaSources connected with Chris Brown and Rihanna tell TMZ Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, wants the judge to give Rihanna a pass from testifying because of leaks in the case.

We're told Geragos and Rihanna's lawyer, Donald Etra, believe Rihanna was compromised when her name surfaced as the alleged victim in the beating. They claim this and other leaks violate her privacy rights and therefore she should not have to further put herself out to the public by testifying against Brown in the case.

It's further proof Rihanna and Brown are back together and in lockstep.

Geragos asked to meet with the judge in chambers, along with the prosecutors, on March 23 to discuss letting Rihanna off the hook. Brown's arraignment is set for April 6.

Chris Brown's New Mystery Court Hearing

Chris Brown, RihannaChris Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, has requested an unscheduled hearing even before Brown's arraignment in the alleged beating of Rihanna -- and it has to do with Rihanna testifying in the case -- or not testifying!

We've learned the case has been officially moved to L.A. County Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg. She's the judge who signed the search warrant in the case.

The hearing is set for March 23. It will take place in Judge Schnegg's chambers. Prosecutors will join Geragos but Chris Brown will not be present.

Geragos is the one who requested the meeting. We know it involves Rihanna's possible testimony in the case. Will Geragos ask the judge to block prosecutors from calling Rihanna or limiting her testimony? We don't know for sure.

We do know the meeting has nothing to do with a plea bargain.

The arraignment is still set for April 6.

Chris Brown -- No Plea Yet

Chris Brown and his attorney Mark Geragos did not enter a plea to the two felony charges. In a proceeding that took roughly 4 minutes and 20 seconds, the judge granted Brown's request to move the arraignment to April 6th.

Chris Brown: Click to watch

It is unclear why they wanted to postpone the case -- possibly to conduct further investigations or possibly to strike a plea deal. We just don't know...

Based on our information, it seems Brown wants to avoid a trial at all costs because the picture of Rihanna taken one day after the incident -- which has not been seen anywhere publicly -- is unbelievable.

During the proceeding, Brown signed a waiver of presence, allowing his lawyer to act on his behalf -- meaning he won't have to show up to any minor court proceedings before April 6th.

Brown, who stood emotionless in court, spoke only four words to the judge -- "yes," "yes," and "yes ma'am."

After Brown's request to continue the case had been granted, the judge warned Brown, "You are not to annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone."

Chris Brown / Rihanna Launch PhotosThe judge asked Rihanna's attorney Donald Etra if there was a "no-contact order" in place, to which Etra replied, "Miss Fenty [Rihanna] does not request such an order."

Etra is famous for repping Snoop Dogg in multiple court cases throughout the years.

Mother of Jackson's Accuser Pleads Not Guilty

Janet Arvizo leaving courtJanet Arvizo pled not guilty in an L.A. court Wednesday to charges of welfare fraud and perjury.

Arvizo, the mother of the boy who accused Michael Jackson of sexual molestation in 2003, looked happy as she left court today despite all the bad press, telling TMZ, "Today is a new day!"

Arvizo's lawyer said Janet hopes to resolve the welfare fraud charges without a trial.

As Arvizo left the courthouse after her arraignment, she told TMZ she was on her way to see her husband, United States Army Major Jay Jackson, who was returning from serving in Iraq today.

Arvizo is charged with fraudulently obtaining roughly $8,000 in welfare payments by allegedly lying about her financial situation. She invoked her Fifth Amendment right under oath during the Jackson trial when asked about why she took welfare when she had more than $30,000 in her bank account.

Arvizo is due back in court August 7th.
