There's a serious internal conflict raging over this recent video of Coldplay covering one of the Beastie Boys' most iconic hits -- "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)."
On one hand, it's cool because Coldplay stepped up and filled in for the rappers, who had to cancel shows so MCA could deal with some cancer treatment.
On the other hand ... they turned one of the greatest party songs ever into a wussified, piano bar ditty.
Beastie BoyAdam Yauch took to YouTube this morning to announce he'll be having surgery next week on a "treatable" cancerous tumor in his salivary gland -- but is only calling it a "little bit of a setback."
Though the group had to cancel upcoming shows and is pushing back their new record release, Yauch promises "We'll be back doing it soon."
The Beastie Boys are out with a new concert documentary, 'Awesome; I F......in' Shot That!', which uses the footage of 50 fans during a 2004 concert at Madison Square Garden.
The rap superstars handed out 50 handheld Hi-8 cameras to enthusiastic audience members at the sold-out performance. The resulting film represents 50 fresh and highly personal perspectives shot from the point-of-view of the audience.
