Looks like Jon Gosselin won the birthday battle against Kate -- because instead of leaving at 6pm, he just told us he'll be staying 'til he can "put my kids to bed."
After the celebration, Jon came out to get some face time with his BFFs, the paps -- saying he and Kate made it "cordial" for the twins on their birthday ... and there's no way he'd be spending the night.
Probably a wise decision.

UPDATE: Jon Gosselin has a double-D problem on his hands -- as in his daughter's name is misspelled on the cake. It's Mady -- not Maddy.
A person from a mysterious entertainment show ordered the cake Jon Gosselin is schlepping to the big birthday.
An intrepid TMZ reporter called the Cupcake Cafe in NYC. The owner told us she got several calls from "a person from "Entertainment Something," ordering the cake and asking permission to shoot inside the bakery when Jon came a callin'.
When Jon arrived at the shop he had his eye on the cupcakes -- thus the name, Cupcake Cafe. Jon was surprised to learn the person from "Entertainment Something" had already ordered a cake. The owner thinks Jon paid cash, but that begs the question -- did "Entertainment Something" ultimately foot the $94.00 bill?
We checked TV Guide but no "Entertainment Something" is listed. So we took a shot in the dark and contacted "Entertainment Tonight." The rep said her show absolutely did not pay for Jon's cake.
But when Jon got the cake, an entertainment show was inside the shop shooting the "action." We do not know if the crew from "Entertainment Something" was inside the store, but "Entertainment Tonight" was.

The Jon & Kate battle never ends -- and a war is brewing over tomorrow's birthday festivities for twins Mady and Cara.
We just got a pissed Papa Gosselin in NYC, where he actually whipped out his BlackBerry and read a new e-mail from Kate aloud -- one saying she refuses to see him and wants to limit his time with the kids on Thursday to only two hours.
Jon says the duo had originally planned to have a party together, but according to the e-mail, Kate now believes "Due to recent events, it'll be too stressful."
Jon called her demands "ridiculous," adding "I can stay as long as I want ... and I will."

For Jennifer Lopez's 40th Ricky Martin and Liza Minnelli sang "Happy Birthday" to her. For Marc's yesterday -- he got the President.
The couple was in D.C. for Anthony's 41st b-day -- where he was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute gala.
They sat next to Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Barack Obama reportedly led a bunch of senators and congressmen in singing the birthday anthem.
So we gotta ask ...

FOX Sports Radio's "Money" from the "Petros & Money Show" got one of the most memorable birthday surprises we've ever seen last week -- when Shaquille O'Neal literally bent Money over his knees and delivered a b-day behind beating!

Michael Jackson was honored in Las Vegas last night -- on what would have been his 51st birthday -- with a star on the Palms Casino Resort's Walk of Fame.
Robin Leach presented the star to Joe Jackson, Michael's dad, who said, "I wish he was here to see this take place."
Afterwards, Joe had dinner at the N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms and then went up to the Playboy Club. After that, he went to another nightclub called Moon, where the DJ played Michael Jackson songs all night.

A group of well-choreographed Michael Jackson fans -- about 500 to be exact -- gathered in Leicester, U.K. to wish Michael Jackson a happy 51st birthday by re-enacting his famous "Thriller" video.
According to the group, they think they've set some sort of world record.
