The mother and step mother of Rubina Ali -- the little girl featured in "Slumdog Millionaire" -- went toe-to-toe yesterday in the streets of Mumbai, amid reports Rubina's father was angling to cash in by selling the child.
The choke-fest between the two women occurred after Rubina's father -- Rafiq Qureshi -- reportedly tried to squeeze around $400,000 from a reporter for Britain's News of the World, who was posing as a baby buyer.
Rubiq claims he was framed.

One of the guys from the new "90210" series pulled a guy out of a taxi cab and beat the living crap out of him this weekend -- and the whole thing was caught on tape.
It all went down outside of MyHouse nightclub, when a group of guys including Brandon Michael Vayda -- who plays Mike on the show -- got into a screaming match with another group of guys over something that was probably stupid and meaningless.
All of a sudden, a couple of guys from each group began throwing punches at each other while Vayda stood and watched. But moments later, after the other group retreated, Vayda stormed into a taxi, and threw several elbows and punches at one of the guys.
Vayda managed to take the guy out of the cab and onto the ground, where he continued to rain down on the guy with a flurry of bombs to the face.
Eventually, the fight was broken up. No arrests were made.

Two roadies working on the Britney Spears "Circus" tour made a hit record of their own last night -- after cops say they got into a crazy street fight with police officers.
It all went down last night in Pittsburgh, when cops say they saw Rockey Dickey (right) -- a member of Brit's road crew -- punching some random dude in the face. When an officer tried to stop the fight, Dickey allegedly turned and took a swing at the cop.
Cops said Dickey would not cooperate when officers tried to handcuff him, and a taser was used to subdue him. But it gets worse...
Officers say Alex Montes (left)-- who also works for Britney Spears -- tried to save his buddy by putting one of the arresting officers in a headlock. Cops say Montes managed to leave the scene, but he was located and arrested a short time later.
According to WPXI, the station that broke the story, Dickey and Montes have been charged with criminal conspiracy, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Dickey is also charged with simple assault and resisting arrest.
Spears is set to play Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh Friday night -- minus two employees.
UPDATE: This statement was just put on Britney's website: "Last night two employees of a company contracted to provide equipment for The Circus Starring Britney Spears tour were arrested in Pittsburgh, PA. However, neither of the men involved are employees of the tour or Ms. Spears. The two individuals have since been dismissed by their employer. The Circus Starring Britney Spears tour does not support or tolerate this type of behavior."

Joaquin Phoenix jumped off the stage and attacked a fan at a Miami show last night -- but, like anything with him these days, the whole thing could be one big set up.
It all went down at LIV nightclub at the Fontainebleau, when Phoenix exchanged insults with a guy in the crowd telling the heckler, "I've got millions of dollars in my f**king bank account. What do you got?"
Phoenix then launched himself off the stage and started throwing punches at the "f**king a**hole." The crowd erupted and started chanting "Joaquin, Joaquin" until Phoenix was eventually dragged away by club security.
FYI -- Casey Affleck was filming the whole thing.

What a difference a TV show makes -- Rosie O'Donnell's two biggest nemeses of the last year, Donald Trump and Star Jones, are prepared to make nice with the acid-tongued talk titan, as long as she comes on their respective shows.
Trump said yesterday, as People reported, that he wants Ro for his new celebrity-infested "Apprentice" -- but 
Rosie already shot back, saying, through her rep, "It will not happen in this lifetime or beyond." Star, as Us reports, said Rosie's "the kind of guest you want" on her new Court TV series, even though she called her "a former fatty," and accused Star of "selling bulls**t" for pooh-poohing her gastric bypass surgery.
No word yet on whether we'll be seeing Star v. Rosie anytime soon.
Britney Spears -- Terrierist
Britney Spears sucks, at least according to the Humane Society.
H.S. honchos are pissed off after reading that Spears went to a pet store in fancy Bel Air, Calif., and dropped three grand on a Yorkshire Terrier. The Humane Society has been dogging pet stores, claiming many of the pups come from puppy mills.
H.S. is also really upset that Spears spent only 30 minutes before sealing the deal -- "Choosing a dog is a major lifestyle decision that should not be taken lightly." Apparently, the Humane Society thinks Brit might pull a Paris -- as in getting bored (after all, she does have ADD) and jettisoning one pooch for another.
Tara Breaks Out the Pigskin
Everyone's favorite ball-carrier, Tara Reid, busted out a little beachfront football game with a couple of tight ends in Malibu yesterday.
Her arm strength was good, but she could definitely use a little help around mid-field.

It seems that Jon Lovitz got to do last week what many comics have wanted to do for years -- bash Andy Dick's face in. Lovitz tells
Page Six that he confronted Dick at L.A.'s Laugh Factory after the cuckoo comic told him last year that he had put the "Phil Hartman hex" on him, referring to Hartman's murder by his wife Brynn in 1998, and suggesting that Lovitz might die soon. Lovitz expected an apology last Wednesday, but it wasn't forthcoming, so, says Jon, "I pushed him ... Then I pushed him again really hard. He's a disgusting human being." Adds Lovitz, "All the comedians are glad I did it because this guy is an ***hole."
Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada saw the "pushing" slightly differently: "Jon picked up Andy ... and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of his nose." Dick's rep had no comment. The Laugh Factory, of course, is the club where Michael Richards went on the
infamous racist rant that TMZ showed you first.

Jessica Simpson has the power to turn men into blood-thirsty, violent animals. During a weekend shopping excursion, her mere presence ignited a WWE-style rumble between paparazzi and a herd of security guards.
As Jess left a shopping spree in Century City, tension between mall security and pursuing paps reached a high; erupting into all-out battle.
After a security guard pushed a photog out of Jessica's way, two photogs responded by unleashing a flurry of punches. The fighting finally came to a stop after a photog was thrown to the ground by a squad of mall security goons.
Just another day of shopping for Jessica Simpson.

In the greatest fashion prat fall of Paris Fashion Week, we learn that fashion and watering buckets equal disaster and more importantly, hilarity. Of course those horrid shoes probably didn't help.
No one steals Moakler's man. Shanna Moakler got in a tussle with heiress Paris Hilton early Wednesday morning. Shanna alleges that Paris posse member Stavros Nairchos shoved her down some stairs. Watch the exclusive video of Shanna's conversation with the police.
Meanwhile, Paris contends that Moakler struck her in the jaw with a closed fist after screaming profanities at her that night. After exiting Hyde, Paris and her publicist Elliot Mintz went to the police station and filed a police report against the "Dancing with the Stars" contestant.
