Bad Blow Could Mean Jail for "Family Ties" Kid

Brian BonsallBrian Bonsall, who played Andy Keaton on "Family Ties," may now be facing jail time after violating the terms of his probation.

B.B. pleaded guilty last year to third-degree assault after tossing his girlfriend around -- and has now allegedly violated the terms of his two-year probation by failing to pay for domestic-violence classes, submitting a positive breath test, and failing to show at other scheduled breathalyzer check-ups -- this according to Boulder's Daily Camera.

The 26-year-old is due in court on Wednesday in Colorado and his probation officer has recommended a 60-day term of work release -- allowing him to work during the day and go back to the pokey at night.

"Family Ties" Andy Gets Probation

Brian Bonsall, who played the youngest, blondest Keaton on the '80s sitcom "Family Ties," was sentenced to two years probation Friday in relation to a March assault incident.

Bonsall was arrested in Boulder, Colorado, after his girlfriend told police he poured an alcoholic drink on her while she slept, put her in a choke hold and threw her onto a bed. Bonsall counterclaimed that he pushed her in self-defense after she cut his arm and face with a steak knife.

Bonsall, according to his lawyer Paul McCormick, went through a 30-day rehab program and has been sober for over five months. He and his girlfriend have gotten back together and are in couples counseling.
