Coldplay Fights for Their Right to Party

There's a serious internal conflict raging over this recent video of Coldplay covering one of the Beastie Boys' most iconic hits -- "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)."

On one hand, it's cool because Coldplay stepped up and filled in for the rappers, who had to cancel shows so MCA could deal with some cancer treatment.

On the other hand ... they turned one of the greatest party songs ever into a wussified, piano bar ditty.

So where do you stand...?

Rock (n' Roll) Your Baby!

You can't stand the Wiggles and the thought of some Disney Kidz belting out Britney Spears makes you want to tear up your "They Might be Giants" t-shirt.
Radiohead / Baby Rock
Well hip indie parent, fret no more. Baby Rock Records has just what your ears are yearning for, great songs from great bands toned down to soothe even the fussiest of babies. The new-fangled lullaby album feature songs by Radiohead, Coldplay, Pink Floyd and Nirvana, and are sure to keep both baby and parent calm for years to come.

In order to smooth out the songs, the company replaced the guitars and drums with the melltron and glockenspiel vibraphone. We don't know what those are either, but they sound better then some pre-teen singing "Mambo # 5".

Coldplay Takes Aim

Chris Martin: Click to watchAt a press conference in Hong Kong, the band's frontman made both a jab at Vice President Dick Cheney and fueled speculation that Coldplay may go the route of Weezer and disband.

When talking about why they don't get into fights with other bands, Chris Martin spoke out against the second in command, "You know, if you don't like [the music], just listen to something else. We'd much rather have a fight with Dick Cheney, you know - people who really do things that we consider to be bad." The comment brought laughs from the crowd and prompted the moderator to add, "Did everybody hear that?"

Martin seemed to dominate the presser and admitted it could be a while until the world gets new music from the band. "We won't do another album until we think we've written the best songs in history, and that could take a while. So we could be waiting, 20 years or 50 years. Who knows? Our next record seems like a long way away."

The Crybabies of the Music World

Blender. Owen WilsonSome music rocks, while other music grooves. Blender Magazine has put together a list of the 25 Biggest Wusses Ever, and these artists just, well, whine.

Blender's list includes such notables as everyone in 'N SYNC (Except Justin), attacking the rest of the band's post-band careers or lack there of. They get some good digs in on Chris Martin of Coldplay for his "needy, apologetic tunes: He begs he pleads, he crumbles, he crawls." Nick Lachey gets no sympathy for his post divorce whine-fest in the article. " He makes Morrissey sound like a Pussycat Doll."

It's just not goody two-shoe's who get verbally smacked about. Heavy metal band Metallica are a target for their touchy-feely appearance in the documentary "Some Kinda Monster".

And who is the number one music wussie of all time? Find out for yourself in the August issue of Blender when the magazine hits newsstands July 18.

Grammy Showdowns

Bring out the boxing gloves.

Bitter feuds and rivalries among some artists could make for some uncomfortable moments at the 48th annual Grammy Awards as battling stars attend the same ceremony.

Grammy Awards executive producer Ken Ehrlich tells TMZ that anyone looking to start trouble on the show should be warned they could ruin their chances of being invited back. "We've had opportunities on the Grammys to have controversial moments and I don't do it, because I don't want the lead story the next day to be about [the controversy] and not who won awards."

Here's a look at some of the rivalries and feuds that could make the Grammys a showdown to watch:
