There's a reason insult master Lisa Lampanelli didn't show up to the Comedy Central roast of Joan Rivers this weekend -- if she couldn't be in charge, it wasn't worth her precious time.
A week after Kathy Griffin was announced as the roastmaster for the event in Los Angeles, Lampanelli -- who's usually the headliner at these things -- dropped the following message on her Twitter page:
"No Joan Rivers roast for me this year. Not worth doing if I ain't roastmaster -- besides summer is for fun, not work."
Burn.
It's wrong in every possible way, shape and form, but when Lisa Lampanelli decided it was time to exploit Rihanna's horrible, tragic situation at the Comedy Central Roast of Larry the Cable Guy -- people couldn't help but crack up.

David Spade tapped his celebrity rolodex for the season finale of "The Showbiz Show" yesterday. Live from, Hollywood, it's Wednesday night!
A TMZ spy attended the hilarious season three closer, featuring a special house band -- Spade introduces the musicians as the "The Chuck and Larrys." Out pops a bearded Adam Sandler and a poker-faced Kevin James. Sandler rocks out on the electric guitar while James provides attempts to look musical. Another SNL alum, Rob Schneider swings by to provide vocals and percussion ... along with his dog, Oscar.
The Chuck and Larrys definitely gave the Max Weinberg 7 a run for their money ... or not. Catch 'em in all of their rock and roll glory when the episode airs tonight on Comedy Central.

As various officials debate Paris Hilton's mental state, David Spade and the guys at "The Showbiz Show" think they have it figured out: Restless Vagina Syndrome.
In this clip from tonight's ep, a fake commercial runs for RVS with the tag line, "Isn't it time you got your vagina back?" *shuddering*
According to "Showbiz," symptoms include "trouble sleeping, sitting for long periods of time or staying in jail." Hmm, sounds fishy ...

When Dave Chappelle spotted a couple of photogs waiting for him outside Swingers coffee shop in Los Angeles late last night, he asked if they were spies from Comedy Central. Sorry, Dave, that's the paparazzi.
Intrigued by photog's uncanny ability to sniff out a star from a mile away, the comedian asked, "How do you guys know people are going to be places?" Um, that's what they do for a living.
But what was most puzzling to Chappelle was the lack of demand over paparazzi photos of minority celebs. "How come paparazzi never takes pictures of black celebrities?" he asked. "Our pictures aren't as profitable are they?" Awfully deep conversation for that late at night, isn't it?

Jon Stewart doesn't just think he's smarter than everyone else. He might actually BE smarter than everyone else.
Julia R. Fox, an assistant professor of telecommunications at Indiana University, has conducted a study that says that the popular "fake news" show is just as substantive as network coverage.
The study, "No Joke: A Comparison of Substance in The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Broadcast Network Television Coverage of the 2004 Presidential Election Campaign," will be published next summer by the Journal of Broadcast and Electronic Media, published by the Broadcast Education Association.
