An arrest has been made in the death of an "American Idol" contestant who was struck and killed by a car over the weekend.
23-year-old Daniel Bark was booked on charges of death by reckless driving as well as leaving the scene of an accident in the death of Alexis Cohen, who appeared on "Idol" in seasons 7 and 8 but failed to win a trip to Hollywood.
Cohen was struck on a road in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Her body was found by two pedestrians ... it was found 350 yards from Cohen's parked car.
Cohen received notoriety for her post-audition rant in Season 7.
If convicted, Bark faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
Instead of trying to sound smart, beauty pageant contestants should just stick to what they do best: taking embarrassing topless photographs and entering politics.
Or, as Confucius would say, according to Miss Panama contestant Giosue Cozzarelli: "I am Confucius and I am an ancient Chinese Japanese ancient guy."
If "American Idol" wannabe Emily Wynne-Hughes manages to stick around for a while, you might get to see the first contestant perform with an alcohol monitoring bracelet!
Turns out Emily -- the same tattooed chick who can't seem to keep her pants on -- is smack in the middle of a DUI fiasco, and she has been ordered to wear a SCRAM bracelet.
The whole thing is over an arrest back in July, where cops busted her for allegedly driving drunk in West Hollywood. Emily copped a plea to a lesser charge of reckless driving.
In addition to the bracelet, Emily was placed on 3 years probation.
We've learned there may be another hearing and the judge could back down on the SCRAM bracelet -- but for now the order stands.
Heart disease is the new deaf. Our "Dancing with the Stars" spies tell us Toni Braxton will put on her dancing shoes for the show this season. Toni, who quit her Vegas gig due to heart complications, continues the "DWTS" tradition of dancers with some form of challenge: Heather Mills (leg), Marlee Matlin (deaf) and Tucker Carlson (rhythm).
A rep for the show says they don't comment on casting rumors.
A source tells TMZ that 17-year-old "American Idol" contestant Sanjaya Malakar's cheery smile is simply a front ... and privately, the winsome teen is actually bumming.
A source close to Sanjaya's family revealed exclusively to TMZ that the darling hula-dancer has been devastated by recent bad press he's received over his not-so-precious singing. "He's so young and so sensitive, it's hard for him to go out on that stage and not have that devastation affect his performance," said the source.
Apparently, it's not just hard on Sanjy, but on his family as well; they are trying their best to just be a strong support system for the adorable teenager as he hulas his way through this sometimes surreal experience as one of the remaining 11 American Idols. It's unlikely that Sanjaya will have to endure it much longer. He was in the bottom two last week.
America is still stunned over the fact that "American Idol" contestant Sanjaya Malakar is still hair there. TMZ found Malakar's MySpace page, where his pics reveal the many faces of the pretty warbler.
There's one constant: those perfectly plucked eyebrows! Luscious!
While his singing doesn't seem to be winning any praises (except, perhaps, when he stops), on Tuesday night, Randy was all about Sanjaya's do, dawg.
