Toby Keith -- I'm My Own Damn Roadie

It doesn't matter that Toby Keith has enough money to pay a small army to carry his junk – the country star is still blue collar at heart.

Toby Keith

Think about the biggest stars in any of the main genres of music -- could you imagine Lady GaGa, Eminem, Justin TImberlake or the Jonas Brothers carrying their own equipment?!

Didn't think so...

Canada to Billy Bob: No Thank You

Billy Bob ThortonBilly Bob Thornton should have known better -- being impolite doesn't fly for Canadians.

The actor "musician" and his band, The Boxmasters, have canceled their last two Canadian tour dates with Willie Nelson following Billy Bob's now-infamous radio rant of d-bag awesomeness, according to an announcement on Willie's website.

But Billy Bob didn't just end his hissy fit in the studio. Apparently he went on stage later that night, in front of an all-Canadian audience, and called his interviewer an "asshole"... for, you know, asking Billy Bob questions.

The canceled shows might stem from the fact that Billy Bob said Canadian audiences were boring ... or because actors are usually terrible at playing music.

He's just lucky he was in Canada and not some scarier, less-Canadian country.

Toby Keith Splashes Down on Beer Tosser

Toby Keith was his own personal security task force at a concert this weekend -- going after the "punk-ass mother f***er" who allegedly fired a beer on stage.

It all went down at a concert in Pikeville, Kentucky on Saturday night when Keith says one rowdy fan threw him "the bird" ... and then threw a beer.

Keith's reps tell TMZ Toby jumped off the stage and confronted the guy face-to-face. After Toby fired off a few choice words, the guy backed down and security dragged him out.

Toby apologized for the incident moments after it happened -- as you can see in the video -- but no arrests were made and the rest of the concert went off without a hitch.

Kid Suggests Rock For Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson may still have some fans out there, but Kid Rock is definitely not one of them.

When asked about Simpson's on-stage meltdown, Rock claimed he "wouldn't know her well enough to miss her if she was gone." Ouch. Kid's advice? Switch to Rock n' Roll where it's okay and expected for singers to forget the lyrics.

Tanya Tucker Passes the Torch

Country legend and sometimes train wreck
Tanya Tucker was a long way from Tuckerville last night. Our cameras caught the singer with her daughter Layla at Mr. Chow.

The 8-year-old songbird was encouraged by Mama Tucker to sing a little ditty. Like a good girl with refined Southern manners, she spit her gum into mama's hand and obliged. Ding dang, y'all!

Too bad Brit Brit wasn't there to see how it's done.

Carrie Underwood: Hacked!

carrie underwoodHoly biscuits and gravy! Country music sensation Carrie Underwood's MySpace page has been hacked!

One of our staffers, a huge Underwood fan, has been receiving messages from "Carrie" herself over the past 24 hours. To his dismay, the message wasn't to invite him to lunch or even on tour. Instead, it was a spam message urging him to check out "these amazing free ringtones." Dangit!

Underwood's peeps were made aware of the issue this morning, and the password was changed to stop the hackers, but this is the latest bulletin posted from Carrie's page: "Hey, this is Carrie Underwood. OK here's the deal, I need EVERY SINGLE myspace friend to stop what he/she's doing and GO HERE RIGHT NOW and put your cell # in. You'll recieve every ringtone from every myspace artist (including MY favorites)... (sic)."

Those hackers are some crafty lil' buggers.

A Merry Mariah Christmas?

graphic of a question markWill Mariah Carey ever do another Christmas album? --Paul

Mariah CareyPaul, Mariah's reps weren't immediately available to comment on this, but we could all use some new Christmas music from the diva. It's been more than 10 years since we heard some holiday cheer from Mariah; hopefully she has something up her sleeve for next year!

In related news, did you know that when it comes to charity, she's one of the most influential celebs? Although she's very modest about it, Camp Mariah, founded in 1994, continues to be a getaway for 300 boys and girls each summer!

For Mariah's glam gallery, click on this!

Dixie Chicks Still Not Making Nice

The Dixie ChicksThe Dixie Chicks are re-writing the rule books on how to market music. A standard rule of thumb is that you absolutely need major radio airplay to sell records. Well, the Dixie Chicks have proven that wrong.

The Chicks have held the top spot on the charts for two weeks now despite media stories that country music stations across the U.S. are not playing tunes from their new record "Taking the Long Way."

While record sales are soaring, the Chicks have taken a hit at the ticket counter. Sales have been slow in some markets and the ladies have issued a statement on their website denying speculation that there tour will be canceled: "Any reports being made about the cancellation of our upcoming 'Accidents And Accusations' tour are completely false.

We have known since March 2003 [when Natalie Maines spoke out against the Iraq war] that our path in this business would have obstacles at every pass.  We have enjoyed meeting each one head-on and we will continue to do so.  Dixie Chicks fans are as active and dedicated as they come.  This time around we are willingly feeling our way through uncharted territory.  Things don't come as easy as they might have come in the past, and it makes each accomplishment more exciting and appreciated. We will go where the fans are with great anticipation and no regrets."

It's impressive to see the Chicks stick to their guns in the face of a concerted effort from various politicians, activists and media outlets to shout them down or build up talk of their so-called demise. Their June 15th show in London - the site of their infamous comments that kicked off the backlash - is sold out. It'll be interesting to see how many sell outs they can muster back home here in the States.
