Mayer -- the dog we helped rescue along with the real John Mayer -- seems to be doing quite well with his new family. And by "well" we mean "friggin' cute as all hell!!!!!"
Mayer was placed into this loving home with the help of Ace of Hearts dog rescue foundation after he bet us $25,000 we couldn't find his mug shot.
The new owners tell us they are huge John Mayer fans, but they didn't know the dog's backstory until shortly after the adoption. They had recently lost a dog to cancer and tell us Mayer gets home-cooked organic meals. Lucky mutt!
We haven't seen the real John Mayer this happy since he was dating Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Minka Kelly, Jennifer Aniston .... or maybe never.

Sure, most poodles already look pretty ridiculous -- but these dogs will need years of counseling after suffering through this "creative grooming" dog show.
There's nothing that warms the heart more than a look of total humiliation on a dog's face.

The Michael Vick "Please Don't Pelt Me with Objects" tour began today as Vick addressed the press for the first time as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Vick said all the right things -- like "I won't disappoint," "Playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right," and "You only get one shot at a second chance" -- but he's still got a long way to go to win over the fans of Philly.
Remember, these are the same people that booed Santa Claus.

Though Jess held tight to Justin Timberlake's two boxers as she left Runyon Canyon yesterday, a third leash for her own pooch was mysteriously absent.
According to Pit Bull Rescue Central, the stakes are "always higher" with this kind of dog, and "while they may not instigate a fight, they won't back down from a challenge."

The advantage of watching this on video: All the hilarity of being there, without the wet dog smell.

Four 9/11 hero dogs!!!
Trakr, a K9 police and search and rescue dog who was credited with locating the last human survivor of 9/11, was recently cloned as part of BioArts' Golden Clone Giveaway. Trakr's owners are being presented today with four perfect (and not at all creepy) clones of Trakr, who sadly passed away in April.
Curious how it was done? To clone Trakr, Dr. Hwang Woo-suk and his team replaced the genes in canine eggs with genes from Trakr, stimulated the eggs to spur them to develop into embryos, then transferred the embryos to dogs who served as surrogate mothers.
Mother Nature would be proud.

Our photog was S.O.L. when he tried getting Audrina Patridge's digits yesterday, because if busting out a picture of his two adorable rescued pit bulls couldn't melt her heart enough to go out with him -- at a PETA event -- nothing would.

Dog lover Sandra Bullock took her two-legged chihuahua Ruby and three-legged pup Poppy for a hop along the beach on Thursday.
The 44-year-old really goes out on a limb for her pets.

Aaron Carter's doggies were collateral damage when the cops busted him for allegedly driving with a bunch of marijuana.
Carter was popped in Texas yesterday on charges of possession of at least two ounces of pot. But he had two pit bulls with him at the time -- one puppy and one full-grown.
When AC was taken to jail, his dogs went to the pound. As soon as he was sprung, he went to Sam B. Coffey Animal Shelter to retrieve them -- and had to pay a $70 impound fee.
The woman who runs the shelter tells TMZ that Carter's dogs "were very, very well-trained" and that Aaron was "extremely happy to see his dogs and they were well cared-for."
He might have been just "extremely happy" not to be in jail anymore.

PETA wants Kevin Federline to take custody of Britney's dogs too. Say it with us, everyone, "Leave Britney alone!"
In a letter from PETA Prez Ingrid E. Newkirk, she writes to Fed-Ex: "For the sake of your children and the animals who are at risk while in Ms. Spears' custody, we hope that you will do the right and best thing for all involved and pursue a custody order for the animals so that your sons can continue to have the company of the animals they've grown to adore."
It is unclear whether Newkirk was referring only to canine species or other people surrounding Britney.

Two dogs found buried at a home belonging to rapper DMX had serious wounds, authorities investigating neglect allegations said Saturday.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said one dog had serious bite wounds and another had trauma to its abdomen, but causes of death were not determined. A third dog was burned so badly an exam was inconclusive, reports the AP.
The investigation stems from an Aug. 24 raid of DMX's Phoenix home, when police were probing allegations of animal neglect. Police seized 12 live pit bulls, numerous weapons, and about a quarter-ounce of marijuana from the property.
