Wolf Blitzer -- one of the most decorated hard-news reporters on the planet -- got his ass handed to him on "Jeopardy" last night ... by a comedian's sidekick.

By the end of Double Jeopardy, Blitzer racked up an impressive NEGATIVE $4,600 -- after swinging and missing on brain-busters like King David and Jesus both hailed from this town. Wolf said "Jerusalem" ... the correct answer is Bethlehem.
On one of the few Wolf got right, Alex belatedly took it back -- because Wolf's answer, "Julia Childs" had an errant "S."
When it was all over, Andy Richter absolutely dominated Wolf and Dana Delany -- finishing with an impressive $68,000 and a ticket to the next round.
The 68k went to Richter's charity -- the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Both Wolf and Dana's charities were kindly given $25k each.

The Answer: It's the only thing Alex Trebek could have been thinking when he met Keanu Reeves at the Long Beach Grand Prix yesterday ...

The Question: What is ... this homeless guy doing here?

Finally a question more challenging than a Daily Double -- what the hell happened to Alex Trebek's mustache?!
He was sportin' the 'stache for the first half of "Jeopardy" last night ... and then it mysteriously vanished.

Ken Jennings, who won $2.5 million during a 74-game winning streak on "Jeopardy," has written a tongue-in-cheek advice letter to the long-running game show.
While initial reports portrayed the missive as a slap against the show, Jennings' musings are actually more funny than mean-spirited.
Here are a few bits from ken-jennnings.com:
Maybe when Art Fleming was alive, America just couldn't get enough clues about "Botany" and "Ballet" and "The Renaissance," but come on. Does every freaking category have to be some effete left-coast crap nobody's heard of, like "Opera," or, um, "U.S. History" or whatever? I mean wake me up when you come up with something that middle America actually cares about. I think it would rule if, just one time, Alex had to read off a board like:
* PlayStation
* The Arby's 5-for-$5.95 Value Menu
* Reality TV
* Men's Magazines
* Skanks from Reality TV Who Got Naked in Men's Magazines
* Potpourri
Does that really sound like the ramblings of a man completely digusted by the show that made him famous?
