Courtney Ames clearly thought it was hi-larious when she saw the mug shot of alleged Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch member Nick Prugo in a gossip magazine ... but soon thereafter the LAPD was able to wipe that smile clean.

We obtained this photo from the computer the Burglar Bunch used during their alleged crime spree. Soon after the pic was taken, Ames was arrested and charged -- along with Nick -- with the burglary of Paris Hilton's home.
We don't know who the dude is next to Ames.

Vogue understands that the economy is hurting, and that's why the mag has decided to give back to the community ... with a fashion show.

Conde Nast, the magazine's publisher, just announced plans to host a "fashion celebration night" in thirteen cities on September 10. Editors for Vogue hope that the fashion shows will bring "enchantment and pleasure" to the public -- much more meaningful than some sort of monetary or food-based aid.
After the shows, luxury stores will stay open late with Vogue editors offering "lessons in style." Because there's nothing like going to an expensive fashion store to chase away the "my house just got repossessed" blues.
Finally, a corporation that understands what real people need.

There's another reigning beauty queen who took some very topless photos before she won her pageant -- but unlike Carrie Prejean, Miss Rhode Island USA's crown was never ever in jeopardy.

According to Alysha Castonguay, she dropped her top for a Maxim magazine shoot and a few swimsuit calenders way before her competition -- but there was no controversy over the pics because they were all seen and approved by the Miss USA pageant officials.
But Alysha tells TMZ she feels for Miss Cali saying, "I personally believe this situation is stemming from the controversy over her opinion and not a photo."
The final decision on dethroning Carrie Prejean is still being deliberated by the Miss USA and Miss California officials.

Barack Obama on the cover of the new issue of the Washingtonian (left) and the exact same candid pic that TMZ posted in December (right).

The editor-at-large tells TMZ the decision to change Obama's swimsuit from black to red was "purely artistic" because of the background being black.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

So this is interesting. US Weekly is losing subscribers because of its Sarah Palin cover story: "Babies, Lies and Scandals."
There were reports that as many as 10,000 subscribers bailed, but US told Page Six the number was closer to 1,000. Apparently the mag -- and to be fair just about everyone else in the media -- misjudged Palin's impact once she opened her mouth.
We put some polls up yesterday. With 200,000 votes, 51% called Palin the biggest star of the convention. Obama came in second with 45%. McCain got 3% and Biden 1%.
We also asked who you'd most like to have a beer with -- 43% Palin, 28% Obama, 16% McCain and 13% Biden.
US Weekly next week -- "Biden: Old Men, Lies and Scandals."

Long Island Lolita Amy Fisher is calling someone evil. Black pot, meet kettle.
We got hold of a scathing email the thwarted murderer sent to Chaunce Hayden, editor of Steppin' Out. Seems Amy felt an article about her made her look like a bad person. Well, that or the fact that she shot a woman in the face whose husband she was sleeping with might have something to do with it..
Read the email and judge for yourself.

Actress Jodie Foster graces the cover of September's California Style magazine -- and she looks amazing!

But the truly incredible thing is how Clarice goes from looking like she does in this picture from three years ago (left), to looking superlatively flawless today.

UPDATE: The photo used for the cover art is actually a few years old. Shocking! TMZ stands firmly behind the remainder of the story.
Funnylady/gay icon Kathy Griffin will be featured in an article in the next Steppin' Out magazine scored by editor Chaunce Hayden. Congrats to the "D-List" comedienne -- whose dream has finally come true! She nabbed the cover! Atta gurl! Wait -- is that KATHY??

Congratulations are also due to the miraculous Photoshopping staff at Steppin' Out. Griffin is literally airbrushed within an inch of her penis! If you took Tori Spelling, made her hot and gave her Hilary Duff's body, you'd get their version of Kathy. Though the redheaded comic is barely recognizable on the cover, unlike Andy Roddick, it's doubtful that Kathy will have any issues with her new look.

Ian Ziering is dancing his way into our living rooms every week, but the former 90210ian won't be flashing his privates in the pages of Playgirl.
In Touch claimed that Ziering had been offered a tantalizing $100,000 to drop his leotard for the peep rag.
TMZ contacted a Playgirl rep who, when asked about the reports, informed us, "Uhhhh, that would be a big NO. Playgirl doesn't have that kind of budget to play with." Playgirl without something to play with?
So there you have it. If you wanna see more of Ziering getting sweaty, you'll have watch "Dancing with the Stars," if you can stand it. Or just stick to reruns of 90210!

Everyone's interested in what Britney's been up to -- including Miss Spears herself.

The partying pop star mom popped into a convenience store last night and checked out the latest gossip on her life by skimming through the current issue of Us Weekly, which features her and new boytoy Isaac Cohen on the cover.
After figuring out where she'd been for the past week, America's favorite trainwreck then grabbed a Red Bull, and spent the evening with friends, cruising the streets of L.A. in her convertible Mercedes.

For those who can't get enough gossip about starlets and socialites, The New York Post launched a glossy magazine Thursday based on its hugely popular gossip fixture, Page Six.
The 76-page magazine was distributed as an insert to Thursday's editions of the newspaper, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
Angelina Jolie graces the cover of the first issue, which also has a quiz for readers to guess the false names celebrities use to register at hotels, and an Academy Awards preview. A piece called "Tale of the Tiaras" compares the lineage, loves, pet projects and bankrolls of the Hilton and Hearst heiresses.
In his opening letter, Editorial Director Richard Johnson writes, "You are holding in your hands the culmination of 30 years of blood, sweat and tears -- and plenty of threatened lawsuits." Page Six was started in 1976.
The magazine also includes an interview with a Victoria's Secret model, a roundup of new nightclub openings and a Hamptons real estate preview.
No publication date for a second issue has been announced. Page Six, which these days is more likely to appear on Page 8 or 10 of the Post, features celebrity sightings and gossip about Hollywood and high society figures.
Despite its regular financial losses, the New York Post is a key part of News Corp.'s global media conglomerate for the presence it gives Murdoch in New York.
