The guy who played Yeah-Yeah in the movie "The Sandlot" has officially changed his tune in his domestic battery case -- finally fessing up to smacking around his girlfriend back in April.
Marty York had originally entered a not guilty plea when he first faced the judge back in April -- and York's GF announced that she had forgiven him.
But Friday in L.A. County Superior Court, a judge wasn't as understanding -- and sentenced the former child actor to 60 days in jail, five years of probation, and 52 weeks of counseling.
Bet he won't go by the name "Yeah-Yeah" behind bars...

It sure is expensive fighting charges you beat up your girlfriend -- that's why the guy who played Yeah-Yeah in "The Sandlot" has taken to asking for a little financial help from his friends ... on MySpace.
Marty York was arrested on Easter Sunday for allegedly beating up his girlfriend. He pled not guilty and even showed up to court with his girlfriend, who has forgiven him and stands by him 100%.
He wrote a bulletin on his MySpace that explained his situation, which said in part, "I'm asking anyone on here friends and fans that have supported me through the years or I have helped, to please make a donation, and I promise to anyone that helps I will provide you with a signed autograph and give you a shout on my page."
Sounds like a good deal.

She was smacked in the face by the guy who played Yeah-Yeah in "The Sandlot" -- but moments ago Marty York's girlfriend was standing right by his side when he walked into court to face a battery charge.

The case was postponed until June, but Marty and his girl told us she's forgiven him for the Easter Sunday attack -- an incident that left both of them physically bruised.
When asked if she forgave the former child star, she responded, "I wouldn't be here if I didn't."
Isn't love grand?

It may not be a defense to criminal battery, but at least the dude who played Yeah-Yeah in "The Sandlot" is telling cops a story that's consistent with his injuries.
Marty York tells us, yeah, he backhanded his GF, but only after she attacked him in his car during an argument. Now we have York's mugshot that seems to back up his story -- that she hit him.
Is that a defense to striking the girl? It may be up to a jury.
P.S. -- They're back together.

He fully admitted to "backhanding" his girlfriend in a brutal Easter Sunday smackdown -- but fear not hopeless romantics, former "Sandlot" actor Marty York says he and his woman are officially "back together."
TMZ spoke with York -- who played Yeah-Yeah in the movie back in '93 -- and the former child star claims he hit his lady in self defense while trying to drive home from a nightclub.
York says, "She got violent and started attacking me in the car... it caused me to swerve all over the road... I almost crashed and got in an accident... so I backhanded her."
As TMZ first reported, York claims they were still arguing when they got to their apartment, and concerned neighbors called police. York says cops noticed that he "did have a black eye, but her injury looked worse." York was arrested, booked and released on bail.
Up to 50% of domestic violence cases in California either involve women who go back to their alleged abuser or change their story. The D.A. is used to prosecuting these cases whether the alleged victim cooperates or not.

A former child star from the movie "The Sandlot" was arrested on Easter Sunday for allegedly beating the crap out of his girlfriend.

Sources tell TMZ Marty York -- who played the smart mouthed sidekick "Yeah-Yeah" in the flick 16 years ago -- was driving with his girlfriend in Los Angeles when they got in a heated argument. York says his GF struck him with her high heel shoe and he retaliated by punching her in the eye, causing a cut.
York says they drove home, where the argument continued. A neighbor saw the cut on the woman's eye and called the cops.
L.A. County Sheriff's deputies arrived just after 2:00 AM. They observed physical injuries to the woman and arrested York for felony corporal injury.
York was booked and released on bail.
