No Body Shows Up for Ed/Merv Court Case

Merv griffin A court case between two big celebrities was dismissed today because no one showed up for the hearing ...

... the case: Merv Griffin vs Ed McMahon.

The Griffin Group
sued Ed and his wife Pamela last year -- claiming a $100,000 loan Merv gave Ed in 2005 was never repaid.

Since no one showed up to court in Santa Monica yesterday for either side, the case was tossed out ... so it looks like this one is gonna have to be settled in the Highest of Courts.

Merv Griffin's Son Playing a Dangerous Game

merv griffinThe trustees of Merv Griffin's assets are waging a war against Merv's son Tony -- saying if he goes through with his attempt to boot the trustees from power ... he'll never see another penny of Merv's money.

The trustees filed papers against Tony in L.A. County Superior Court, saying Tony has no right to ask the court to send them packing ... whether Tony feels they're running the trust into the ground or not.

In the docs, the trustees say Tony's challenge would violate the trust's "no contest clause" ... which means Tony would forfeit his yearly $2 million check.

We'll take risky decisions for $500.

Merv Griffin Visits His Calif. Alma Mater

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Merv Griffin paid a visit to his high school alma mater Friday as the school dedicated its quad to one of its most prominent donors.

The 80-year-old entertainer and game show executive, who graduated from San Mateo High School in 1942, was honored by students and faculty in the new "Merv Griffin Quad."

The San Mateo Union High School District decided to rename the school after Griffin made a $250,000 donation to the school. He asked that $125,000 of his donation be used to support the school's performing arts program.

Griffin appeared to be in good spirits as he chatted up staff and students Friday. He even remembered details about many teachers from his high school years.

San Mateo High Principal Jacqueline McEvoy told the San Mateo County Times that it was obvious Griffin was still dedicated to his high school.

"When I was talking to him on the phone, he started singing the fight song and he still knew all of the words," McEvoy said.

Griffin is best remembered as the host of "The Merv Griffin Show," and later became a top entertainment executive, creating TV game shows such as "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy."
