Michael Bay: Steven & Jerry Wouldn't Take This!

Michael BayMichael Bay sent a scathing email to Paramount Studios before the release of "Transformers 2," complaining in effect that his famous director friends would be shocked at the way Paramount was promoting the flick.

We've obtained an email dated May 4, 2009 -- from Bay to Paramount head Brad Grey, along with a bunch of other Paramount honchos. Bay complains bitterly that Paramount's ad campaign for "Transformers 2" was tepid and ineffective.

"... I have been waiting, and waiting for the anticipation of an 'event movie' to make it into the 'public zeitgeist,'" Bay writes.

Bay calls the print campaign an "abject failure," with a "pathetic presence" in the L.A. Times. He's especially pissed about the profile of the movie on the MTV Video Awards, calling it "so lame."

But here's the best part. Bay name-drops Jerry Bruckheimer, saying Jerry always told him "a studio that does not make [the opening of a movie] an event ... will get bitten in the ass." He then adds, "Besides my good friend Steven [Spielberg], Jerry has made a lot more successful movies then (sic) all of us."

Bay then asks, sarcastically, "Is this is a cash issue with your company?"

In fairness, on June 6, Bay clearly had a change of heart, sending an email to Grey and others at Paramount, praising them for treating him well, adding ..."Paramount is like family. Thank you all for busting your butts and bringing your 'A game' for the release of Transformers."

Bet Steven and Jerry haven't sent such a nice email to their studios!

Slaughter at Michael Bay's Place

Michael BayThey say good fences make good neighbors -- but what happens when your neighbor knocks down your fence, cuts down your trees and builds a wall on your property?

That's what Michael Bay is dealing with, at least according to a lawsuit filed today in L.A. Superior Court. He claims his neighbors took down a fence that helped separate their properties. Then they built a wall that crosses over onto his property. And finally, he also alleges his neighbors hired tree trimmers to hack down trees on his property -- twice!

He is seeking unspecified damages.

Michael Bay Transforms Spector Trial

Today's testimony at the Phil Spector murder trial took a strange turn to "Transformers" director Michael Bay. Friends of slain actress Lana Clarkson, who was found shot dead in Spector's house, took the stand today and testified that in the days before her death, Clarkson was distraught over a run-in she'd had with Bay.

Years earlier, Clarkson appeared in a Mercedes Benz commercial directed by Bay, and the struggling actress was hoping that he would remember her and help her find acting work. But when she approached him at a music industry party, he blew her off.

"Michael Bay just dissed me, didn't know who I was. I hate this town and I don't want to be here anymore," said Clarkson, according to testimony of her friend, Punkin Irene Elizabeth Laughlin. The defense says that this, along with spiraling depression, job and relationship unhappiness, prompted Clarkson to commit suicide upon entering Spector's foyer.

If convicted of murder, Spector faces 15 years to life in prison. Bay's reps had no comment on the case.

UPDATE: On his official website, Bay calls the Spector trial a "friggin circus" and the testimony of Laughlin a "dumb story."
