It may have been hard for her to watch, but DJ AM's mother tells TMZ she gave her "blessing" to MTV to run the posthumous docu-drama about her son's battle with drug addiction. In a conversation with AM's mom, Andrea Gross, the grieving mother tells us she recently saw a private screening of, "Gone Too Far" and was so moved by it, she decided the show "should go on the air" without any changes.
Here's her full statement:
"We gave our blessing. We decided that it was so touching and that it should go on the air. It was a wonderful testament to the work Adam did. I only wish he were here to help so many more."
MTV has decided they will air "Gone Too Far" -- the documentary series on young drug addicts that DJ AM finished just three days before he died from an accidental overdose.
The network says they got the "consent and support" of DJ AM's family before choosing to run the eight-episode series -- which features AM working with real-life drug addicts and their families to help them overcome substance abuse.
MTV released a statement from AM's family, saying:
"It is our hope through airing this show that people will get to see the side of Adam that we knew and loved, not just the celebrity DJ, but the honest and caring person who gave so much of himself to help others."
Kanye West has apologized twice on his blog and again last night on Jay Leno -- but according to Taylor Swift, she still hasn't heard a word from him personally.
Swift was on "The View" just moments ago and says she was "rattled" by West's stage rush ... but added she would be willing to meet and call a truce.
Lil Mama just tried to explain why she pulled a mini-Kanye last night at the VMAs -- issuing a non-apology for jumping on stage at the end of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' performance like she deserved to be up there.
Here's what Mama told MTV:
"I did not mean any disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia Keys. I admire them and look up to them as role models. 'Empire State of Mind' had my emotions running high. In that moment I came up onstage to celebrate my two icons singing about NY."
As soon as the VMAs ended, BeyonceKnowles wasted no time distancing herself from Kanye West's infamous hissy fit -- we're told Bey's camp almost "immediately" approached Taylor Swift to make sure she was okay.
Taylor's rep tells us Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles approached Taylor outside her dressing room once her subway car performance was over.
We're told Mathew wanted to make sure Taylor was doing fine after West's diss -- and they even discussed ways to make up for it.
Taylor's rep tells us the singer was mainly upset because she wasn't able to thank her fans for voting for her -- which was eventually made right when Beyonce invited her back on stage to finish what she started.
Taylor's reps tell us she had never met Beyonce or Kanye before the last night's weirdness went down.
Kayne West just went to his blog to issue another kinda-sorta apology to Taylor Swift ... this time West uses a Ben Stiller movie to describe his emotions :
I feel like Ben Stiller in "Meet the Parents" when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave... That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry.
Kanye had written another statement on his blog late last night, but that one mysteriously disappeared shortly after it was posted.
After Taylor Swift -- who is just 19 years old, mind you -- won the award for Best Female Video at the VMAs, Kanye rushed the stage, took the mic from her and proclaimed Beyonce had "one of the best videos of all-time."
For her part, Beyonce looked completely mortified by Kanye's childish actions.
Janet Jackson has been busting her butt rehearsing for a Michael Jackson tribute at the MTV Video Awards this weekend -- and it promises to be a nipple-free affair. We think.
Ms. Jackson is set to put on a huge MJ-honoring performance featuring 20 backup dancers -- which is being put together by some of the best choreographers in the world, including Frank Gatson and Travis Payne.
According to one of the dancers involved, some rehearsals have lasted 15 hours a day.
Once Janet is finished honoring her brother, we're told, "there won't be a dry eye in the house."
Before he even got his high school diploma, MTV skateboarding star Ryan Sheckler was already pullin' in more cash more than most college grads.
TMZ obtained his official MTV contract -- filed with the courts back in '07 because he was a minor. The docs show that when Sheckler was 17-years-old, dude was making $9,617.70 an episode for his reality show "Life of Ryan."
The docs had to be signed by his guardian and the president of his company, Ryan Sheckler Inc -- both of whom happen to be his mom.
But Ryan wasn't the only kid from his family cashin' in -- his brothers Kane and Shane also got paid for their sidekick roles, each were $1,500 a show.
Rapper Lil Mama has just apologized for comments she made on "America's Best Dance Crew" this weekend -- after she went a lil too far while grilling a transgender dancer.
During the rant, Lil Mama -- a judge on the show -- told Leiomy Maldonado: "Leiomy, come on. Your behavior ... it's unacceptable ... You were born a man and you are becoming a woman. If you're going to become a woman, act like a lady ... It gets too crazy and it gets confusing."
After taking heat over her comments, Lil Mama sent the following apology to GLAAD:
"I would like to clarify anything that was misunderstood from Sunday's show. My remarks were never meant to be disrespectful regarding Leiomy's gender nor offensive to the LGBT community, which has been a community that has supported me in all my endeavors. However, in hindsight, I recognize that my words may have come across as hurtful. I spoke with her privately after the taping to express that it was not my intent to offend her or any member of the transgender community and that I still live for Vogue Evolution."
The former MTV reality star who may or may not have stabbed her husband while their three kids watched pled not guilty to one charge stemming from the alleged incident.
Sara Stokes -- who was on "Making the Band 2" -- pled not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon Friday morning in Riverside County Court in California.
It's unclear what exactly happened between Sara and her husband last month, because we've been told two completely different versions of what actually went down.
Sara claims her husband accidentally cut himself in the sink -- while cops believe she went on a stabbing frenzy after the two got into a verbal altercation.
Former "Road Rules" star Mark Long has either been on or hosted just about every reality show on MTV -- so when he says Ryan Jenkins has made reality television "scary," we tend to believe him.
Long actually hosted the premiere party for "Megan Wants a Millionaire," the VH1 show Jenkins was a contestant on. He didn't meet Jenkins, but he says Megan Hauserman told him she never suspected Jenkins was capable of something so horrific.
Jenkins was wanted in connection with the murder of his wife, Jasmine Fiore. He hung himself on August 23.
The former MTV reality star accused of putting a knife through her husband's arm earlier this month claims the whole thing is a misunderstanding -- the dude stabbed himself!
TMZ spoke with the manager for former "Making the Band 2" star Sara Stokes, who told us a completely different story than the one we heard from law enforcement. Here's the breakdown:
Stokes' Version -- The incident started by the pool, when Sara innocently tripped and hit her face. Her husband tried to get something to clean her off and accidentally cut his arms on knives in the kitchen sink.
Law Enforcement Version -- It started when Sara stormed out of her house after a screaming match with her husband, she fell over and blamed him for tripping her -- grabbed a knife and stabbed the crap out of his arm while their 3 children watched the whole thing.
Little bit of a difference there, huh?
But there's more -- Stokes claims the reason she accused her husband of tripping her was because she "suffered a concussion when she fell and was confused."
Stokes' rep tells us the couple is "back together, " "happy" and looking forward to the "truth coming out in court."
