Natives of The New Dawn are artists that you just knew would gain instant popularity. Ernie Ball, of the Vans Warped Tour Battle of the Bands, has just released a compilation of artists deemed to be the best in unsigned music and included is the Natives along with their song "People".
"We are extremely excited to give bands yet another opportunity to come out on top in our multifaceted Battle," said Brian Ball of the Ernie Ball Company. "It was incredibly challenging choosing who would make the final cut out of the almost 12,000 Battle applicants, but I'm confident that the tracks we chose truly exemplify the genuine, stand-out musical talent that Ernie Ball constantly stands behind."
In the year which produced Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," music has re-discovered the world's demand for true soul. Now comes Detroit-bred Natives of the New Dawn, who may have made their trek to town at exactly the right time.
The NATIVES have navigated the three years of their existence as successfully as any band in an industry where lines are drawn in the sand between genres. A 2nd place finish at the 2005 Emergenza International Band Competition(over 9,000 bands competed) may legitimize the fact that these guys just might be the something needed to get people to open their minds by opening their ears.
Music was built on certain solid foundations- soul, rock, etc- and when you come across a band like the NATIVES, you are able to feel that foundation. If you like what you hear, wait until you see themlive.
