You know you're screwed when the supreme intergalactic powers of President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey combined aren't enough for a successful bid to host the 2016 Olympics in Chicago.
Chicago was just eliminated from consideration for the 2016 Olympics -- in fact, it was eliminated in the first round of voting.
The winning city was Rio de Janeiro -- which, if you think about it, is awweeeesome!

In an attempt to calm racial tensions, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden threw back beers with Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and the man who arrested him -- Police Sergeant James Crowley -- near the Oval Office today.

A national debate on racial profiling occurred after Crowley arrested Gates for disorderly conduct during a burglary investigation at the professor's home.
But here's the important part -- the respective beers each man drank:
Obama -- Bud Light
Biden -- Bucklers
Gates -- Sam Adams Light
Crowley -- Blue Moon

You've heard the state of journalism is code red -- newspapers and magazines folding, TV stations going broke...well there's something in the media that's recession proof -- the menu for the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.

We got hold of it and it's gonna be a pretty damn fancy shindig at the Hilton Washington this Saturday.
First course: Sopresso, Prosciutto, Reggiano & Brie Plate, Spiced Olives, Wild Watercress Salad, Warm Crostini Drizzled with Balsamic Dressing.
Entree: Porcini Dusted Petite Filet, Paired with Sun Dried Tomato Seared Escolar with Olive Tapenade, Mascarpone Polenta, Asparagus, Cipollini, Green and Yellow Squash, Porcini Mushroom Demi.
No dessert this year -- they're donating the money to a local charity.

Some dude in the FBI passed out at a President Barack Obama speech today -- but B.O. handled it like a frickin' rockstar, crackin' jokes and saving lives all at the same time. Take that Bono!

Props to Gawker for pointing it out.

Northern Trust -- the company that blew millions around L.A. after taking serious bailout cash -- was just named one of BusinessWeek's Top 50 Companies. Was wasting taxpayer money one of the criteria?
They only placed 49th, but the mag calls them "a conservative wealth manager and a prudent lender." Ironically, no mention of lavish parties, golf tournaments and concerts for shareholders on the Sunset Strip.
You'll remember back in February, we reported on how Northern Trust blew millions around Los Angeles after they received $1.6 billion in federal bailout money. Less than a week after our story, they agreed to pay the money back -- but thus far they haven't, nor have they even filed the paperwork to begin the process.

According to Jon Favreau, "The world's getting closer thanks to TMZ" -- and he directed "Iron Man" so you should believe what he says.

Apparently the Jon Favreau who writes speeches for President Obama saw this story we did about Jon Favreau the movie director being mistaken for him -- and according to Hollywood Jon Favreau, the other Jon Favreau gave Jon Favreau a call and the two Jon Favreaus had a chat.
TMZ -- bringing the world together one Jon Favreau at a time.

Comedian Jackie Mason used what some say is a racial epithet in describing President Barack Obama during his act Thursday night, infuriating at least several people in the crowd.
During a performance at Feinstein's at Loews Regency in NYC, Mason referred to Obama as a "schwartza" -- some say it's equivalent to the "N" word -- others say it's just part of the Yiddish culture and a literal translation of the word "Black."
We're told one person walked out fuming, "He's more offensive to the Jews than Madoff tonight."
We spoke with Mason by phone a few minutes ago, and he was outraged at the criticism, saying, "I'm not going to defend myself. Chris Rock has told a lot more jokes about whites than I have against Blacks. What about the demeaning words Blacks say about Jews?"
Mason added, "If it's a racist society, the white people are the ones being persecuted because they have to defend themselves." Mason called people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson "professional racists."
Mason added, "I'm an old Jew. I was raised in a Jewish family where 'schwartza' was used. It's not a demeaning word and I'm not going to defend myself."
And there was this parting shot: "I'm more talented than Oprah Winfrey and look at how much she makes. I can't even make a living."
UPDATE: Rev. Al Sharpton just sent us this statement:
"At this stage in Jackie's life and career he should get our prayers more than our responses. It is sad that maybe he forgot he used the same term against Mayor David Dinkins when he was elected the first African-American Mayor of New York City and got in trouble for it. As for him attacking me, maybe he forgot that he has had me on his TV show and has taken me to dinner and commended me for forgiving a white male who tried to kill me by stabbing me while I was leading a non-violent march. I'm sure Jackie just forgot."

This is not a joke: 71-year-old Etta James actually threatened to beat the crap out of Beyoncé Knowles -- and it's caught all on tape!
The war is all over Etta's song, "At Last " -- Beyoncé sang the tune at Obama's 1st Inauguration Ball on Jan. 20th ... but last week at a concert in Seattle, James was still pissed.
While on stage, Etta told the crowd, "Your President, the one with the big ears ... he had that woman singing my song. She gone get her ass whipped."
She continued, "The great Beyoncé ... I can't stand Beyoncé," according to audio from Crown City Media.
Ironically Etta didn't kick up this sorta fuss when Beyoncé portrayed her in "Cadillac Records."
Reps for Beyoncé had no comment.

Oprah has just announced she will not take a position in Obama's administration even if he asks -- not that he's asking or anything -- but if he did, then she'd say no ... most likely.
Oprah gushed, "I have a few full-time jobs already and a few full-time commitments so, it never ever occurred to me" according to AP Television.
Meanwhile Oprah has been stressing herself silly trying to find the perfect dress for the prom, um ... er ... inaugural ball.

There's one store potential First Lady Cindy McCain may want to think twice about before dropping any of her beer heir millions ... Barneys New York.

The high-end NYC department store's windows currently feature paintings of all the First Ladies of yore and include portraits of both Michelle Obama and Mrs. McCain. While all the works by artist Laurie Munn were made to the women's general likeness, Cindy's looks uniquely ghoulish.
So the question -- by putting the pics up, has Barneys not-so-subtly endorsed Barack Obama? We contacted the store -- a little defensive.
A rep said the the pics are an artist's interpretation. We pressed and mentioned it was Barneys decision to plaster the pics in its windows. The rep told us to go talk to the artist, adding, "We do not take any political stance."

Finally, a candidate is reaching out to a massive, untapped demographic -- couch potatoes. Good luck getting them to the polls ...

In an effort to invade your escapism, presidential hopeful Barack Obama has bought ad space on virtual billboards in an XBOX 360 game called "Burnout Paradise," according to Gigaom.com.
If the whole President of the U.S. thing doesn't work out, he's a shoe-in for mayor of Sim City.

So the Internet's buzzing with a report that Barack Obama, 46, has been graying -- and quick -- since he became a Senator.

But check out this snap from a TV interview in 2002, when he was still a State Senator in Illinois. Looks like he could've used the Grecian formula even then.
His barber tells Politico he's never dyed the candidate's hair -- and won't have to for a while. Not exactly a black and white issue, it seems.
